Yeah, I sat down to get some inspiration. I planned on working on my 59 today. Well after reading every page of your build, I'm done! It's now dark outside and I have a sore back from sitting here for X-amount of hours. I did learn a lot though...LOL Thanks for posting all the pic's and info.

Re: 58 GMC Project

I got a new project I'm picking up this weekend. It's a 1966 Chevelle. I know it's not a truck but I thought I would post a picture.

The first car I ever turn a wrench on was a 66 Chevelle and I also had a 70 Chevelle 20 years ago. 66 & 70 are the one's I like best.

ive got a 66 big block elcameo that Ive had for 13+ years. got the new quarter panels welded on and sort of just stopped right there. would be a beautiful car. I have a 396 and muncie four speed for it, just not my pick to finish first! but I will never sell it. I would love a black lowered 66 elcameo.

Re: 58 GMC Project

If you haven't found it go over to chevelles.com, ton's of information there. I am one of the original members, but because of the focus on my 59 don't spend much time there. My DD is a 64 Malibu, but I have always loved the 66's, I beat the hell out of one when they were new. It was friends that couldn't drive that well and he let me do the hammering on it....

I did run across Chevelles.com already we I was researching the VIN on the car. Looks to be a great site. I'm going to sign up over there and start a poject build thread.

No the Camaro went into hibernation , I was concentrating on the truck but even that has taken a back seat. Dad had knee replacement surgery and has not be recovering to well. I have been helping my mom with the mowing and what ever else she need around the house so my play time has been reduced. Before dad's surgery he teamed up with a friend by supplying a motor for his race car and that eat up several good truck weekends. I am just going to be patient and see how much time I can scrape together to work on the projects, but family stuff comes first. Here is a couple of race car pictures. I have tried to not get to involved with it but can't seem to stay away...lol.

Sorry to here your Dad is not doing well, maybe some time for things to heal up and he will be back to normal. That car is very cool! I love that paint job! I have never seen a distribitor coming out of the front like that before.

I love those Chevelles too, my first car was a 67 chevelle that I built with my dad and drove to high school.

You should put a link to that build in your sig so we can check it out.

Re: 58 GMC Project

I hope he heals up and can get back out in the garage. I went down there today and mowed his property...with the help of my brother...lol. He was really struggling. The distributor drives right off the front of the Jesel belt drive. We used it in the boat when we were running it. It helps because the intake is really big and there isn't much clearance for a convention distributor. That is actually a vinyl wrap...it is really nice. Looks a lot like paint. Good luck with your chevelle.

Bernie

Cal, I have sat and read the entire thread like a book. Wow. Your truck obvious has shown how much passion you have for the hobby. I have notice that so many on this site share the same love and passion. I look forward to sharing my build and learning all I can as I journey through my special build for a lost friend. Congrats on a beautiful truck and for sharing you skills.
