Re: A '54 named Busty
In this age of R&R (Remove and Replace) where Mechanics have been replaced by "Technicians" who in their right mind rebuilds things any more?
I remember salvaging starters and alternators with $3 dollar brushes and giving them another lease on life these day's they don't even ask for your old parts back anymore to use them as cores Last edited by Gregski; 08-28-2020 at 10:04 PM. |

Re: A '54 named Busty
so we are really just doing a thorough inspection and some deep cleaning not necessarily a rebuild, though all that it would take is a new square o ring and a new rubber dust shield
in our case the piston looks great nice and smooth no grooves or scars Last edited by Gregski; 08-28-2020 at 10:51 PM. |

Re: A '54 named Busty
I hope someone can help me out, I am super confused in trying to pick a power brake solution for my truck, every company I look at seems to offer something that looks different
let's tart with this $300 kit from Performance Online which is pretty much the same as Western Chassis (it comes with a proportioning valve, but no pedal) FYI I am running disc in the front and drum in the rear |

I'm running one similar to the one from Speedway. i did add a Wilwood with an adjustable proportioning valve.

Re: A '54 named Busty
Here are a couple pics to give you an idea.... The L bracket is hard to see but it just bolts to the (2) studs that hols on the master cylinder.

Re: A '54 named Busty
Great cleanup work bro! Some of my greatest enjoyment in the hobby is when I can relax and get into details like that. I was rather taken with these two calipers. I would be sorely tempted to spray them with Eastwood's Diamond clear and see how they hold up. Hard to imagine that they wouldn't have rust chips given their proximity to the road though. Still, you cleaned that cast iron up so nice. I did the red calipers and drums on my Cutlass over 20 years ago. Shocked to still see it going on with high-end sports cars. Anymore I paint the calipers silver so that they essentially just blend in with the disks.

Re: A '54 named Busty
I'm sure you did, but on the calipers, hopefully the little dowels came out and got cleaned up and the O rings lubed with synthetic brake lobe.
Nice job cleaning. With your fab skills I'm sure you could make a junkyard S10 booster and master work. Less running around to buy a kit though. |
