I threw in a bit of Unimog (portal boxes) too just to make it more impossible to do the suspension / axle packaging!! Front has 14" of shock travel, Rear has 16".... It's pretty nuts. -G

AEV makes a fender kit for Colorado ZR2s that allow for a 35" tire with no lift. It does require cutting the stock fender. It looks amazing. https://www.coloradofans.com/cdn-cgi...28-jpg.393100/

The hard part is insuring that you still have some decent bump-travel once you set a nice low ride-height. Portal axles are notorious for only having 2-3" of bump travel due the the raised axletube heights which hit the oilpan, framerails, etc. That makes for a pretty miserable offroad wheeler. After a LOT of struggles I ended up with 6" bump/ 8" droop (front) and 7" bump/ 9" droop out back. -G

Found a set of caps to go with my steelies. Had been running P01 covers.

K Series Suburbans
In the mid 1960's I logged so many miles in one of these, a '64 IIRC, it had the 250 i6 and Muncie SM465 box .
We had another that was our primary plow rig in winter, it was badly rusted by 1968 but soldiered on .

Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!
Love hearing this from those that were using them as intended when they were "new". This one is a Bell Systems Telephone fleet vehicle, well maintained and taken care of but used hard. 292 I6, SM420

Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!
I was a rural farm boy in the 1960's good times mostly .
Trucks were an important part of daily life, never coddled, we ran them hard and put them up wet . That was what cemented my love of i6 powered light duty trucks .
