Re: 1969 SuperBurb build-up (Bagged and Blown!)

Quick question did u stick with a one piece or two piece driveshaft. I changed mine to one piece aluminum shaft 66 inches long and now seem to have a humming vibration at 60 mph but not before. Running 502 with TKO 600 Thanks, Mike

Re: 1969 SuperBurb build-up (Bagged and Blown!)

I just went thru the same thing... mine is 56" with gear vendors unit. Turned out to be a bad new driveshaft shaft I had made. The new one is a 4" steel shaft its much better but I have a small vibration around 70-75mph I think that's more pinion angle related I need to point the diff down 1 degree. That TKO 600 must point the tail shaft down really low bet you output angle is over -5 degrees. I would start verifying your driveline angles.

The tank/compressor/ manifold is mounted between the bumper and gas tank. I actually mounted it to the wood floor. Look at post #703 and forward.

Re: 1969 SuperBurb build-up (Bagged and Blown!)

Ok, so I went out to work on the burb today. I hooked the battery up, my Viar air compressor kicked on and ran for about 3 minutes and shut off. Tried to air the rear bags up and nothing. Check the air tank and it was empty. Disconnected and reconnected the battery and once again, compressor runs but does not put any air in the tank. The compressor is brand new (5 years ago, ) and only has about 1 hr of run time. Really baffling that its running and not pumping any air at all. Any suggestions?

Re: 1969 SuperBurb build-up (Bagged and Blown!)

I don't know how it is around your area, but over here if you let something sit too long you will have dirt dauber nests clogging up everything. Make sure nothing is plugging up the intake of the compressor(s). Also, I would check any one-way check valves for stuck components. Dry rings on the piston of the compressor??? Just a few ideas...

As stated above I would look at the one way check valve.

The filter is good. It's very hard to see or get to, but it seems like its leaking by the compressor head. Where is the one-way check valve?
