Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
East coast customs used to make the step shaver kit, but they are not around anymore. From what I hear, guys have been able to find someone seliing a knockoff of them on Ebay.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
I can see the logic in what you're suggesting. It does make sense and in a lot of ways would probably be easier than shaving all 4 steps, but there are 2 issues that I can see with it.
One is that you wouldn't have the fenders flowing into the bedsides as smoothly as with the normal sportside bedsides. You could mold them in, but then you're asking for cracking. The big issue is that you're going to have to either shave and relocate the fuel filler or modify the dually fenders for it to work, unless you find some rare dually fenders from a CCSB dually. This is a shortbed dually that was a work in progress. If you look, you can see that the dually fender just about half covers the fuel door. Last edited by 1badgmc; 04-17-2011 at 03:50 PM. |

The dually fenders have a more abrupt curve on the front side to allow for the fuel filler door. Last edited by 1badgmc; 04-18-2011 at 03:18 PM. |

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
Yeah, I want one so bad it hurts. I would almost be willing to sacrifice my square crew cab dually to get a CCSB dually.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
Here are a few shots of the '99 Z 56 Police Package Tahoe I am building. 3-5 drop using factory lowered spirings with Belltech spindles, shackles and hangers. Staggard Boss 20" wheels with 275s up front and 295s out back I ditched the factory sealed beams with work truck grille and swapped in a gmc grille shell with billet insert and aftermarket lights. Lots of mods to come including custom 1 off Formula hood.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
Yeah they do handle great, I just dropped mine over the weekend and am waiting on some new tierod ends and steering stuff before I get it aligned. I can't wait to see how well it handles then. I put a k&N fipk on mine and boy did it wake it up a bit. You get a sweet throaty sound out of the engine compartment under load. Good luck with yours, I wish mine looked that clean when I got it. Some hillbilly had mine, it had superswampers on it and a home made safari rack. I am still trying to get all the mud out from underneith it and I have had it for about 8 monthes. lol

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
That it will. The rear steps are bad enough when you have some pre-fabbed pieces to graft on.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
well i am a bodyman and custom work is what i normally dig gettin into. this shouldnt be that big of a deal for me. i stretch and mold dually fenders pretty often. theres some black stuff called panel bond, look into it for molding on fender flares, hood scoops, dually fenders, body kits, etc....
i do see what you mean about something being missing when you shave both front and rear, but it think if i do it like the 95-up s10 stepper and swoop a lill piece right behind the cab to blend in, it wont be that bad looking, maybe even all the way up. i dig the look tho

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
OBS CCSB's are awesome, duallies are even more wicked. Would love to have a 4wd CCSB, dually, maybe lifted, hmmm... now I'm going to be drooling all over the keyboard. The guy who has one in town owns a stereo shop, so you'd think he'ld have it pretty tricked out, but all he has done to his black OBS CCSB 4x4 dually is pipes. I'd really like to know production numbers on these trucks.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
I wish I had pictures, but this was way back in '98... I was at the Sport Truck Nationals in Owensboro, KY and there was a truck there that was factory crew cab dually that got totalled. When they rebuilt it, they made it a short bed and then added the extended cab section from a 3-door truck, turning it into a 5-door extended crew cab shortbed dually. It was lowered with some Alcoas, had a slick paint job and interior. I so wish I had pics of the thing!

Benoit- I'm down with the chrome, usually looks tacky but with that fade i think it looks good.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
This is my first day in this forum. Hello everyone!!
I work on my own truck...... but I didn't think about joining until now. I bought my '88 GMC Sierra 2500, back in '90, with 11,000 miles. To make a long story short ( you're welcome moderator ) ..... I have 364,000 miles on it, with a 350 4-bolt main engine (75,000 miles)..... and an Art Carr 'high horsepower' 700R4 tranny. other than a paint job ( GM paint was crap).... The only major items original is the rear-end, & carbon-wrapped driveshaft. Years alone, demands typical parts replacement. Today I'll search the forum for issues around the wiper/delay. I am looking forward to check out this place!! |
