Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Was lucky enough to squeeze in some additional albeit valuable truck time...
I started in yesterday getting the trans crossmember mounted, but as soon as I got the holes drilled I had to take my daughter to the ER… She's been having low BP problems and chest pains, and recent Dr. and ER visits have netted very little relief or even explanations… Well last night while going through her test results the Dr's discovered a blood clot in her lung… She is now hospitalized and being treated… so today I got back after it and mounted the crossmember… Here's the frame with my markings for the drilling process... IMG_2787 by ta2don, on Flickr I neglected to get a pic of it bolted in… but here's a shot I took before drilling… IMG_2796 by ta2don, on Flickr Then I measured for my driveshaft, and in the process was pleasantly surprised to find that the Driveshaft a friend hooked me up with is the proper length... I originally measured and thought it was an inch too long… I referred back to a saying my ex-father in law used to repeat often… "Measure Twice, Cut Once.":roll eyes: I then removed the yoke and u-joints… IMG_2812 by ta2don, on Flickr IMG_2814 by ta2don, on Flickr IMG_2815 by ta2don, on Flickr Then I cleaned the driveshaft and correct yoke of rust, grease and grime and finally painted... IMG_2819 by ta2don, on Flickr IMG_2820 by ta2don, on Flickr Tomorrow I'll get new U-joints and get those installed... That's all today...

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Daughter is responding well to treatment…
After a couple of busy days at work, and some appts for today that had to re-schedule, DAY OFF!!! Other than a trip to Lowes to grab some Top Soil, Manure & Sand (for a small garden area) I was able to get some truck time in... FIrst a couple of pics of the Trans crossmember bolted in… IMG_2835 by ta2don, on Flickr IMG_2836 by ta2don, on Flickr Yesterday I grabbed the crossbreed U-Joint and here's a shot of it on the rear-end pinion… The pinion section is just a bit narrower and the end caps a bit smaller in diameter then the Driveshaft section… IMG_2915 by ta2don, on Flickr The Driveshaft installed... IMG_2925 by ta2don, on Flickr Finally I started mocking up the Serpantine Belt set-up… The A/C Compressor is just there for belt placement, I will be using an A/C delete pulley until I save enough pennies for a vintage air system… The Alternator is AWOL... Gotta pick it up Monday from the rebuilder… The bearings were toast... IMG_2928 by ta2don, on Flickr Finally, a shot of JoJo sitting in the truck as we arrived at the studio this morning... IMG_2924 by ta2don, on Flickr

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Today I forged ahead a bit... the term forged stolen from Modges… see previous post...
I started out rebuilding the edelbrock carb I bought a while back… IMG_2937 by ta2don, on Flickr IMG_2938 by ta2don, on Flickr IMG_2939 by ta2don, on Flickr Float levels re-adjusted…they were way off... IMG_2940 by ta2don, on Flickr Bowls needed serious cleaning... IMG_2941 by ta2don, on Flickr All cleaned up and mounted, along with new dipstick doing it's best to photobomb... IMG_2949 by ta2don, on Flickr The last pic today is the front of the engine… again… this time the P/S pulley is painted and I am now on the hunt for a high pressure hose that will tie the older fitting on the box to the newer style fitting on the new style pump... IMG_2950 by ta2don, on Flickr The Alternator will re-appear tomorrow and before I bow out, I must say THANK YOU!!! to Markb01… In the process of slapping all the engine stuff together I started researching my options for a fuel pump… After reading a few threads, I decided to PM Mark and get his opinion since I'd read his thread through his fun involving fuel delivery systems… He graciously responded very quickly and endured more questions and provided links to the products (Pre-pump fitter, Pump, and Relay) he recommended… I thanked him and immediately ordered said parts... The plan is to fire the engine the day or so after Mother's Day!!!
