I feel for you Allan. That sucks If I was you I'd blame it all on Strodder. Now go find some different headers and get that truck running.

I have no one to blame except for myself.

Re: My 1965 build thread

That sucks about the headers, Alan. It will come together.

I have a suggestion for ya, if you get the chance. For us DIY body workers, how do you clean up your spreaders? Or do you just pitch them? I'm also interested in how you deal with your waste products such as sanding dust and the gun cleaner/mineral spirits/thinner that you use. Its probably second nature to you, but I need some ideas as Im setting up my space to be able to spray. Thanx and keep up the good work.

Re: My 1965 build thread

Not sure what he does but i let the spent solvent evaporate. Same with the left over paint and primer. Epa says if its a slolid i can throw it in the trash. But i also use the 3m cups so i just set them out and throw them away. Dust goes in the trash. Epa states you can spray 12 cubic feet a day without a booth. As for the spreaders well peel it off just as the filler gets hard.. Leave a layer of it on the spreader and that makes it ez to peel

Re: My 1965 build thread

no Im sorry i was refering to the pps mixing cups. I mix spray and throw them away. for me I find them to save alot of time and thinner. I mix the paint in them then spray then let the cup sit and when the paint is dry I toss it out

Re: My 1965 build thread

When my dad first opened his shop he would set is excess liquids in the disposable aluminum pans you get at the grocery store. Then he would set it in an open air covered area to evaporate/harden. He did this for a couple years until his shop started to grow.

That's some good info on EPA. I don't spray much at home only what I have too. I also use the PPS cups. They are the best thing since sliced bread. Once the product dries up in the PPS liner I just toss it. As far as solvent I just let my waste evaporate in a oil drain pan. I've probably only used a gallon of thinner in 2 years at home. PPS cups save alot of thinner. I'll reuse my spreaders until I can't use them any more. I just use thinner on a rag and wipe them off. Or just leave it to harden and peel it off.

Have you used the PPS liners yet?

Liners are cheaper than cups IMO. They also have the graduated liner that goes in the PPS cup (not liner) to measure by. It goes between the cup and the liner. It's pretty slick.

Re: My 1965 build thread

Just had to share a little of what I do at work. This along with any hard side hit sucks. Power sliding doors makes even harder. Thank goodness this one is manual. I don't have any before pics with me, but this is where it's at today. I have already replaced the suspension. The wheel was drove in and back.

And this is what I get to put in. They don't sell these pieces seperately like most cars.

ps, sorry for all the questions
If you don't know already you will have to get an adapter for your specific model gun to use the PPS system. I have been using them for 6-7 years (when they demonstrated at our shop). If you don't have a good connection with a paint supplier I don't know where the best place to get them would be. I ordered a case (100/ct) 2 years ago and just used my 50th one. You ask how do you know you used the 50th one. No.....I'm not counting them, they come in 2 sleeves of 50/ea. I have seen them in Autobody toolmart also.

Don't worry about the questions that's what we are here for to help each other.
