Had the same problem doing my bed wood. Had to strip in completely down and now waiting for it to cool off.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
LOL. I actually was speaking technically Forrest Gump. The problem with shoot paint in this heat (I don't have a booth remember) is that the paint or primer will drying before it hits the surface.

Well Lt Bam, I did not think you would shoot some paint. I figure you would show off the latest body mods you have done to your truck. ![]() |

Man just give me a call so we can talk in detail about the message you left me. I called you back but I guess you don't know how to use cell phones and thought it was just your pocket ringing.

Kab
I thought of you when I saw this at the LA show. Reminded me of the kind of work you do. Supposedly it has 2.5 inches out of the front end of the car in a "pie cut" ???? Not sure WTF that is but it looked super badash!!!!

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
That was a really clean GMC. I liked how the air cleaner was hidden in the piece on the core support. Made it look like it was supposed to be that way.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Man I would be done with this thing if I could stop making changes but I could not help myself.lol I always wanted the progressive automotive x member/transmission mount but put it off because I simply did not want to spend more money. But it keep calling me so I broke down and bought it. Well anyway here it is.
As shipped ![]() Welded together and cut down for installation ![]() Installed. Removing the factory crossmembers were a lot of work but I like this better. ![]() The Transmission mount is just sitting there in this pic, it will not be welded in until engine and trans mockup. ![]() I also decided to fab up a tubular cross member to replace the factory one. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
I know that one. I cant tell u how many times I have made something just to tear it out and do a one better.
Bam: That looks great and strong! Are the top cross members going to clear your drive shaft when the suspension is completely compressed? |

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Thanks guys.
Hotrod1. The top crossmembers will be fine. That is why when I made the last crossmember I put it at the top of the frame and used those tubes at a angle at the bottom, I did not want any clearance issues. Putting the cross member in the center of the frame may have been an issue. Last edited by Kabwe; 03-20-2015 at 01:24 PM. |

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Thanks guys,
I was about to put the cab back on the frame for the last time and that x member kept calling me. Once I put the cab on its a done deal it was not coming back off so I had to do it. |
