Re: My 52 GMC Build
1st Some of you may recognize this F*-d, think tv show second time I met him. (Grant) He lives a few blocks from me.
2nd C10 with a Cummins and a stick shift, never got a chance to talk to him. 3rd This REO had a supercharger that he could turn on and off with a belt tensioner factory. He drives this everyday. 4th 1927 Chevy capital coach they drive all over. 5th I won "Keep on truckin" because of the traveling I have done and am doing.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Some nice iron at the show. I see the REO's stuff appears to be painted Detroit green.
I just recently put up a 36x40 with a 14' ceiling. Definitely go at least 12' high.

Lower, have you read The Red Car by Don Stanford? Not about an MD but a TC. It's a very cool story. I read it forty something years ago and it still comes to mind from time to time.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Van Fest 22 was such an amazing event, Canada's largest and longest running custom van and truck show. The vehicles, the people and the venue where awsome. The BEST show we have been to yet.
Friday eve I hooked the camping trailer up to my truck and my GF drove our '87 Jimmy and off we went with the kids and dog. There was 3 GM square body trucks and an old ford with Cummins 5.9L motors. This one was very nice. Lots to look at.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Saturday eve was the awards. My boys entered the Jimmy and won 2nd place for "Full size SUV". I was blown away with so many custom vehicles my truck won best in class "Old school" and "Best engineered". Around 8:00pm the band started and so did the party.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
So the brown truck showed up today with my upgraded transmission controller. Going from the Quick 1 to the Quick 4. Tons more options for setting up the shift points, pressures and firmness per gear. It will also hold 4 different shift patterns and can detect trans slip. I will set up to my liking "normal", "trailer", "burnout" and "dragrace". I hope to get it plugged in and set up next week, it uses the plugs I already have.

That's really cool you can set your trans up like that.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Ya if anything bugs you about an auto you can change it. I can even make it a manual shift.
They both cleaned up the Jimmy, so it's great they got an award.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
So some big news at my house.... I'm building a shop in my back yard. Just a little 30X40 with heat and hydro and a 4 post hoist. I'm so excited I have never had a heated play house before. Construction should start around the end of July.
Something like this.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Lowered
I'm in the middle of building my 28 X 40 shed with hydronic radiant in the floor, using a 50 gal hot water heater. Still working on the details Do the research on what to do for hydronic heating for your area I guaranty if done correctly, you'll wonder how you lived without it. I've done this before: 6 mil visqueen, 2" Styrofoam, 4" expansion joint for the perimeter, net wire fence (it's cheaper), to zip tie the tube to the netting (I'm going 8" on centers, with no run longer that 300") then the concrete, I recommend 6 bag mix to lesson the cracking. Stricke the concrete don't saw cut!!! up front costs is twice the cost of other heating systems but much cheaper to run. No more cold floors, and work when it is below 0, coldest I have experienced is -20. I know in the states we don't know the cold that you folks have in your neighborhood. I'm running on, PM if you have any other questions. Your truck is fandamtastic. Strong work. Keep on keepin on NC
