Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
and here's my flat and now the black wall tires. and i also got my buffer out and tried my hand at polishing the white top. I'm also going to to install a vent like the 72's had that way the door shut better. I've noticed that if you seal up the cab real good and you don't have the vent then your doors will always be hard to shut if all windows are rolled up and shut.

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
thanks Nate! I'm gathering parts and cleaning things up and making the truck how I've expected it to perform and drive. having the 3.07 gears would certainly explain why my truck has always felt "heavy" to me it feels like I'm driving a giant wall when I'm driving down the freeway, feels like the wind is fighting hard against my truck, but the 3.73 should take care of that and my wallet no problem! lol

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
alright finally brought the truck up to La Grange where im gonna be until the 10th and now i can put some work in to the truck i brought it home and for the night i took the original 67 shifter knob off and put on the 67 GM car shifter knob in.. i must say I'm pleased with it looks right at home in the truck! tomorrow I'm going to install that door jamb vent into the passenger door jamb i thought about doing it in the driver side but with the vin there it would look to busy so since the passenger side only has the door striker it should look better on that side. an also here is a before and after of the shifter knob.

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
today i went to go drive it and its actually a very comfortable knob! it fits the curves and how you grab the shifter perfectly, and what can i say you know some pretty cool things that i don't know about all of GM from 60's vs. just the trucks which allows for many "stock custom" parts which is what i like best... its all about trying to "keep your GM truck all GM"
today i went and got some work done on the 67. installed the vent in the passenger door jamb and it came out pretty good I'm pleased with it. and i also got around to painting the master cylinder so i sanded the rust off and the shot it with some silver hammered paint and i think it looks better. here are some pics. |

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
worked on the doors and adjusting the doors and fenders as well as the cowl. im pretty happy for now. need to undo the driver rocker and find a way to bring it out more so its flush with the cab corner. and i think im going to have to weld a bead along the bottom of the passenger door so the gap is a little smaller for the rocker to door since the door is actually on correctly. other then that its as good as its going to get. however i cannot seem to correct the driver bottom right portion of the door I've tried to adjust the door accordingly and it just isnt working it sticks out like maybe 1/4 or 3/8's out from the cab corner you guys have any ideas? heres some pictures of the gaps

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
alright so i'm thinking about going to get new shocks and then i realized that i don't know what shock to get since i have the 4'' lowering coils in the back so my question to you guys is if you go to O 'Reilly's auto parts store what vehicle do i use to get the correct length shock for my 4'' rear drop?
and there's a little something going on in the garage today... |

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
well i decided to see if the camaro had a 4'' shorter shock i was in luck the camaro was the same just 4'' shorter so i bought there monroe sensa-trac just wanted a somewhat cheap nice riding shock and apparently those were it so i got em.
found out that my rear axle was originally a 3.73 non-posi from the factory and i made some more progress on the axle today. |

You got a decent wear pattern and backlash I presume. Keep it up so I can see the pics of two marks...

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
well the 3.73 posi is a huge step in the direction i want with the truck... but i still feel the truck needs... well some git up n go.. so not only will i put the 700r with the shift kit (which should help out) but im also going to put a set of double hump heads from a 69 327, they have the provisional holes for the altenator so i can get rid of the nasty 67-68 style altentator brackets and go back to the 69-72 brackets. and to go along with the heads which i have already bought (they been rebuilt) i will be putting a comp cam in with a 470 lift and 272 duration.
and i well i guess i have another truck. its a 65 dodge d100 crew cab shortbed. its all white and all patina'd and thats the way the outside will stay... as for the engine/suspension i will be running 71-72 rear trailing arms and c10 axle and either a 250 inline 6 or a small block chevy the front is a little tricky and looks like i can t run c10 front suspenion.. so i will look into a aftermarket IFS |
