I bought my '88 GMC Sierra 2500, back in '90, with 11,000 miles. To make a long story short ( you're welcome moderator ) ..... I have 364,000 miles on it, with a 350 4-bolt main engine (75,000 miles)..... and an Art Carr 'high horsepower' 700R4 tranny. other than a paint job ( GM paint was crap).... The only major items original is the rear-end, & carbon-wrapped driveshaft.

Years alone, demands typical parts replacement. Today I'll search the forum for issues around the wiper/delay.

I am looking forward to check out this place!!

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

Wiper problem is common. Just pick up a new control board (located in the wiper motor housing on your firewall) at your favorite parts supplier. 90% of the time that fixes it. The other 10% of the time the board doesnt fit that motor (been discoed) and you have to replace the whole motor assy. Beings its an '88, odds are pretty good youre in the 10% camp.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

Found these old pictures of my '88 truck, the next day, after I bought it in 1990. Then a current pic. At the time, the helper leaf spring was still on. After removing the extra leaf, it brought it back to the 3/4 ton height, and the fiberglass shell dropped it another inch. The wheels are powder-coated, with a similar color of the stock rims.

The leverage from the wind pressure, caused the mirror mounts to nearly break!! I put on the original metal ones, then later upgraded to the 'wing' style.

Is it very difficult to put the newer style mirrors on? Been thinking of doing that myself.

Thanks, 1badgmc and mountie. My brother is a body man, so I'll just have him "help" me if I get some different mirrors.

It's just basic work. No need for a bodyman's help for the job.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

To 910506 chevy....

Sharp truck!

Are those factory tail lights that you smoked or are they aftermarket?

If aftermarket, what brand and style are they?

Subtle, but they look good.
