Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Yesterday I took my truck down to my work. Today a buddy and I chopped off the rear end and welded in my new rear clip.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
No pictures to post today since all of my work has been done from my office here at work. Today I managed to work a deal with a guy for a 1981 Chevy 1/2 ton in trade for an old rifle I had laying around and was wanting to sell. This newer Chevy will give me the parts for the disc brake and power steering swap, and it also includes a running/driving 350/TH350 combo. But get this: that motor and tranny aren't Chevy, they're OLDSMOBILE! This should be crazy fun. I'll post some pics up when I pick up the truck this Friday.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Cut out the passenger rocker, front cab support and the rusted-through parts of the floorboard. Piecing the new parts together was one of the most frustrating things I've did in a while. Who engineered all those parts plus the front fender bolting into one bracket????

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Today I cut notches out of my bed to clear the axle and set the bed up on the frame along with the fenders to get an idea of how its coming together.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Got a little more than half the exhaust on the chassis, I'm in mockup stage right now so everything is positively filthy still. I'll start a build thread tomorrow and take some pics of the exhaust.
63 short step. This is a pic I took a couple of days ago when I set the 454 in so I could test fit the headers. |

Drove it to work and toasted the power steering pulley.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I shortened my exhaust, fixed a brake line (again) and contemplated notching my frame; how to, what type (C-notch, step notch) or Z-the frame. So many choices. I will post pics of the back of the truck soon- I cleaned the frame and it is BEAUTIFUL!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Made several attempts to fix a power steering leak near the pump. Everything is less than a year old, with no apparent source for the leak other than both hoses are wet. Attempted to tighten everything up, but there were no loose connections. Looks like the next step is to pull the pump and both hoses for closer analysis, which I was hoping to avoid.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Finished a few things over the last week or so (what can I say I work slow). Basically changed intake, distributor and cleaned up some of the wiring under the hood. Here's a before and after shot.
