Re: 1971 c10 stepside

as i installaed the cab back on i really didnt like the way the engine sat as it was way forward and u could see a big gap , and in this pix the cab still had to be moved back another inch or so . well i decided to take out the engine and use my old brackets and move it back , i had to do some mods for the compressor to work and i will havo to do some more mods on the steering rack and an idler pulley , it is what it is , but now im really happy where it sits, next front sheet metal goes back to start mocking the turbo pipings ,see before and after pix

Re: 1971 c10 stepside

I personally like using some sort of inner fender. It helps keep the road grime and trash out of the engine bay. Even if you rarely drive it, they will help keep the dust down to a minimum. So my vote would be to trim them and modify as necessary. Fiberglass isn't so difficult that I'd recommend tossing them. I'm sure you know this, but before you start trimming be sure to wear protection for your skin and lungs!

But note that I've never worked with turbos, so I don't know how the heat they produce will effect the fiberglass, or if it will even be an issue. Good luck, and have fun!
