Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Part II

This is my 1996 K1500 diesel. My grandfather purchased it new. I bought it in 2011. Has 225,000 miles on it. Has a reflashed ecu, diamond eye exhaust, Duramax fan, and a non egr intake swap.

Man that thing is sweet! I haven't seen that combo before, only a C1500 once.

'92 Sport, purchased new in September 1992. Best vehicle I've ever owned. Has original drivetrain, around 153K right now.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Part II

Made my day......
The new owner of my sold '88 GMC C2500 SLT...... Just sent me a video, driving from the enclosed showroom....From Germany !!

I sold it a year & a half ago to an exporter.
( The "well to do" family has an estate, & collects/drives American cars and wanted a truck to complete the collection.)

I bought a clean '05 Yukon XL SLT, so sadly had to sell my '88.

It had 392,000 miles....Original paint, Interior was all redone OEM / original-style, brand new complete Moog steering & suspension, new Michelins, under hood nearly perfect clean, bed still a shiny finish, not a single drip on driveway, dash in original condition ( always had a cover from new), I included the original new-condition- all 3 service manuals, & all extra parts & all receipts, NO rust.... ( He wants to keep the "patina" finish, but I suggested to paint the cab-roof due to the surface rust ( not "rusted") ......
He got a nice truck.
He is ecstatic !! I am happy it will be taken care of, & It will be garaged until winter is past, then he will send more photos!

I always felt the 4-door dually was the best looking for a 'slammed' truck.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Part II

Picked up this straight and solid, but needs TLC C3500 today.
Plan is to build a clean work truck. It's a 98 w/ 454/4l80e.

I don't have a jack that will lift the back to figure the gear ratio out, but does anyone know how to find (guestimate) gear ratio off of speed, RPM and tire size?
With the factory 225/75r16 at 90km/h the truck is running down the road at near 4000RPM. This seems high to me, and it's going into OD.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Part II

I know where the codes are, I'm just doubting that the rear ends gears are still stock. And unfortunately I don't have a jack big enough to lift this truck up so I can spin the pinion.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Part II

I would say tach, gears or something is off. Quick calculation would say around 6.8 for a rear gear. Truck looks really nice.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Part II

Yeah, the speed was taken from a gps. When the GPS said 90km/h, the speedometer actually says 120km/h. Which is telling me the gears have to have been changed. I've verified it's going into OD and the tires are OEM size.
With that calculator the gears are somewhere are 6:1.
Lowest gear I can find for the corp14 is 5.38, but I haven't looked that hard yet.
I might wire up an aftermarket tach to verify it's working.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Part II

Haven't got under to look, but I don't see a switch in the cab. I had planned to put a GV OD in it eventually though.
I'll have to have a look, that would make things easier to remedy.

Here is my K2500 CCSB with the 5.7 and 175k. Has plenty of flaws. Would be nice to see it get fixed up someday. Stopped driving it regularly in 2016.
