Drew the truck is looking awesome! I had to go back several pages to pick up where I left off. Very nice work as always! I am really thinking about getting a burb lined up so I can build myself a hauler this winter. I want as much cab room as I can get. With that being said, seeing how you have done yours already. Do you think you could cut the burb body at the front of the rear wheel well and then add the truck cab rear portion on there?I'd like to have a lot of cab room if I can.

Yes you could have a longer cab by doing just that very thing. I personally didn't want any more total length, so I kept it at what the factory would have done.

the ones that were done for special orders like the one they modified to build the truck in your profile pic Drew were tad bit longer. the rear doors were the front doors and were something like 4" or 6" longer. that's just a guess on the measurements but you all get the idea.

Yep, I was meaning though if Chevy had designed it and built it on the line they probably would have wrapped the cab corner onto the existing door jamb like I did. Less engineering money to use what they had already designed.

Ok, something worth posting finally. - Although I'm not quite sure-

Started in on my possible headliner that requires some creative fabrication. I used 3 layers of thin plastic to keep my roof and cab clean. Then I spread out the black fleece - I realize now I should have tried to stretch it tighter. I spread out the fiberglass resin on the fleece , but some areas cured quicker than others and it puckered up in one or two spots. Then I laid on my fiberglass resin again and spread out woven roving type fiberglass mat with more resin on top of that. It seems pretty stiff, I'll have to trim it around the edges and fit it in there. Then cover it with headliner material.
Now that I have done this, I have a different idea so I may not end up with this at all. If I love it great, if not, plan B.

Too bad you couldn't put the cab on one of those rotating devices, tipping it upside down, working it from the inside.

that was my thought too. that way it would fit the inside of the cab perfectly instead of the outside.

The way Drew is doing it is exactly how a lot of street rod guys do it. Once they get the shape they cut it, fit it, and then put it back together. Just think how nice it would be bending over, leaning in to do the fiberglass work because it isn't like you can sit on the inner roof panel to do it while it's upside down.

Been following the build and it's lookin awesome, it keeps me motivated to work on my on my work, keep up the good work and don't feel to bad about the paint, I'm about to repaint my truck for the 3rd time in 3 months.

Runs and trash in the paint. I could wet sand and buff, but each bad area is near a body line and I would probably burn through and have to repaint anyway.
