Sweet!!!! Good to hear it run!!
The vacuum hose to the distributor vacuum advance can go to any vacuum port located on the intake manifold or the carb base. the pcv line usually goes to the intake manifold if there is a fitting.
I drilled and tapped my stock intake with a extra port since I needed a port for the power brake booster also.
Just about any any place you have a vacuum port. And plug off any extra un-used ports.
I like the way the carb cable turned out.
It looks and sounds great.

Thought I heard a siren in the background of the video at the end, was it your open headers in the middle of the night that caused your neighbors to call 911???

Re: Daverods project 66

My experience has been not to use a full vac port. You need the signal port on the carb. If you use the full vac port your timing will be full advance at idle. Please correct me if I'm wrong. The signal port is at the base of the carb. If you don't have the manual search the model number of the carb.

Thanks Bubba. Right now I have the pvc line going into the bottom of the carb but I'll put it into the manifold. Damn gotta go cops are here. Too funny I heard the sirens at the end too. Must have been the tube. CSI on spike.

I don't have a manual the carb is a rebuilt. I'll have to do a search.
The 51 chevy I went and looked at the other day was a piece of $hit. I can't believe the guy wanted 650. It was hashed. It's funny because I got kinda lost going to the guys house. I saw a nice 51 sitting on a hill next to this old house. There was'nt any tracks going to the house (it snows here). So I did'nt want to get stuck so I just went bombing passed the house and up the hill to the truck. I was excited the truck was sweet. Long story short. It was the wrong truck, the guy was pissed almost got shot.

Re: Daverods project 66

Try both ported and manifold vacuum; your engine will tell you which it prefers........I would think on yours use the manifold vacuum, it will give you more advance at idle and better throttle response with that big carb....That's just my opinion.

Re: Daverods project 66

The stock distributor should have mechanical advance besides the vacuum advance. Always check total advance with a degree timing light. Just a thought.

Re: Daverods project 66

Off with the old on with the new. Damn that old bumper was ugly, and heavy bet I lost 100lbs. The only thing bad is now you can see how warped my tailgate is. I need to do a little bending.

Re: Daverods project 66

In a Truck, loosing 100lbs in the rear isn't always a good thing. It will be harder to hook up, but looks better. Are you going to install a gas tank back there?

I don't think I'm going to mess with the gas tank on this one. My seats seem to fit me fine.

Re: Daverods project 66

In the snow you better put some sand bags in the bed for weight.

Re: Daverods project 66

I don't drive my chevy in the snow. Thats what the rusty F@rd is for. I has 350 lbs of tube sand and good sipped snow tires. It does great in the snow.

Rained like hell here, but no snow. A lot up in the mountains though.

Re: Daverods project 66

Gee Strodder, that really looks like the Boise Valley and our local mountains.. We have a ski resort with plenty of snow, but the valley snow has gone and now just lots of mud left.
We have a few more trees here in Boise valley. French trappers named it Boise in the old days, it means "The Trees".
It is mainly high desert between here and Dave over in Pocatello about 275-300 miles east. Best seen at a fast rate of speed, or at night!!!!

So what do your neighbours look like. I guess that could go both ways? I don't really want to know. Unless their hot. Then pictures would be ok I guess.
