Maybe recess it a little bit and put some sort of metal mesh-ish in there, oh and some cool amber lights behind the mesh. I remember when I was a teen one of the guys did that to the scoops on their Maverick =)

lol, yup all those options have been heavily considered but exceed my angle grinder skill set

Dude, I want to ree at you over that hood. It's electric, why would you even need any hood scoops anyway? Is there a junkyard around you can source another hood from?

these are false scoops, I don't need them I am using this scrap GTO hood I had laying around to cover up the huge 9" crack in the 67-68 hood, and having a kick doing it

The way you have it as it sits is the perfect setup for what Fitzee calls the "Cut & Butt." Definitely worth an hour of your time to look him up on YouTube (Fitzee's Fabrication) and see how he does his style of patch panel replacement. It will solve a lot of the problems that I'm sure you're currently trying to figure out with the hood and let you keep the scoops.

I'm still waiting for the E-reveal. This thread inspired me to start planning a Lexus trans-motor based EV of my own. (~'90-ish Toyota pickup or similar mini-truck with Volt battery pack(s) in the bed and a false raised floor to hide the battery)

thanks I will check it out, I had a hard time working on the truck in August here in Northern California as the temps were tickling 108° F and I have a West facing garage, we also shipped off two kids to college as well as our money so the funds were low, hope to get back on the truck real soon

Update: ha ha I saw his cut & butt video a while ago and have used it in the past, but this hood "patch" is not being grafted in, it will remain rivetted on hockey style

Eight years ago, I swapped the slant 6 and K-member out of my son's car and put in a 318 with the V-8 K-member, in direct sun at 107º F (that temp was in the shade). I'd probably die, if I did that today.

Yeah fellas, here's how I see it, and you tell me if you agree, maybe this may come useful to the Young Padawans, but when the wife and I bought our first house it was totally empty, we had no money left for furniture, and I remember my mom came over and there was literally no place to sit, and she could tell how we felt, and she said you have the rest of your life to furnish this house

similarly after 7 years on my first truck "build" and 4 on my second, I think the sun will still come up weather it takes me 1 year or 2 to finish this one [but not three, that's ridiculous, it's not a FORD]

Lexus GS300h DriveTrain Hacked

The GS300h version is 100% the way I would go...if they ever sold the GS/IS300h in the USA. It was a Japan/Europe exclusive. I'm not into paying full price plus shipping for anything. If it isn't at my local-ish Pick-n-Pull, I don't usually* build with it.

Had to read that twice. At first glance I thought it was 220 degrees! 112 seems downright chilly after reading that haha.

Brutal heat and humidity hear in north east for the all of August + age = no progress I can appreciate why the G man took a break cause I did …. Now back in the high 50s low 60s in the early morning I’m back at it ….hence I’m looking at a 1 year to complete the rebuild I’m undertaking
