Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
Well replaced the oil pan gasket and I found the problem... The rear oil pan gasket section (the one in the 4pc gasket kit) well the old original on was still there... So I cleaned all the surfaces took that old piece of gasket off and then installed new 1pc oil pan gasket and then filled it with oil checked the oil level and it said I was full no leaks so I started it up and watched my guage... And the needle went to the 1st line out of the 3 in the middle and as I turned around in the court I noticed the oil pressure dropped to the L so I shut off the truck put it in neutral and rolled to a stop got out checked the oil level and it was good still... ??? So I got in started it back up and the guage did the same thing.. So I proceeded to drive home and throughout the drive when I would come to a stop and idle it would drop to the L and then it would go right back up to the first mark and on sharp turns the oil pressure would go down. Throughout the whole drive the oil pressure never rose above the middle line.. So my first question what in the hell are those lines? Because any type of things i try and research to find out what could be wrong they all talk about 30psi or 10psi and it's getting a little irritating because I honestly don't know what those lines represent all I've ever been told about these trucks is to make sure it stays within or at the 3 middle lines if it goes over the 3rd one shut it off if it goes below the 1st one shut engine off so I'm guessing it would be 0\ 10\ 20| 30/ 40/?

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
Most likely you have a 60lb oil pressure gauge in it. If so, the marks would be 0, 15, middle would be 30, 45, and 60. If 80 then it's 0,20,40,60,80.

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
Rick as VA said your gauge is most likely a 60lb gauge. 80lb usually came in the bigger trucks. Are you sure you didn't knock the pick up off the pump when putting the pan up.

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
I think that's what May have happened I'm gonna drop the pan down enough to get my hands in there and fix whatever the problem is... My question is that one piece oil pan gasket is it gonna be trash when I drop the pan? I would hate to have to buy another gasket for another 35 bucks

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
Well I replaced the intake and the thermostat housing, I also did a oil change. I've been working on the oil leak and man it's getting so close! I have a small drip and it doesn't drop for very long so I need to wipe the entire frame and cross members and both pans down and make sure it's all clean under there and then find out where it's wet and where the leak is from. I've noticed the spot is more offset to the drivers side where the engine and trans meet so im assuming it's still the valve cover on the drivers side so I'll keep working omit I didn't tighten them very much so maybe I'll do a 1/4 turn until the leak stops

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
Hey thanks mike! glad you like it so far.
Well fellas went to the disappointing Turlock swap meet and picked up a bunch of business cards for chrome shops and powder coating shops I'm going to call all of them this week and see which place charges the best to do my rims and chrome my 67 hubcaps I'm hoping to get the 16" steelies sent into be powder coated as soon as they come in. I do have access to a sandblaster so I may just blast my rims and caps and make sure there really good and clean and then have them coated probably be cheaper? I'm also going to start looking for a set of new tires and once the rims come back I'll put some tires on them and be good to go! |

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
Yeah I like the white top that I have. When I paint the truck I'll be doing the same paint scheme that I have now but I'm contemplating painting the firewall and the inner portions of the exterior fenders red like the dash to help brake up all the black of the engine bay what are your opinions about that?

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
Sounds like it would be hard to clean to me. I like the black myself.

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
Red looks good on 67's. I would paint the firewall to match the body color just like the factory did...

I had a white el camino with a white motor at one time, it was surprisingly easy to keep clean.

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
and the 16''s in the picture the white rim is a 16 and the brownish/bronze is a 15, cant really tell in the pic but man in person the 16'' looks way bigger. i started sanding them down and so far i have 2 done man im trying to find some tires that dont have a real newschool look but that are still a good size for the 16x5 i was thinking as for size a 235/75/R16 what do you guys think?

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
All the wheels are painted and I've decided to run 225/70/R16's I've got a very good deal on them and I will be getting them here shortly more pics to come when I make progress. Just been driving it and washing it and loving it I don't know what it is lately but truck seems to get a bit more attention.

Does anybody know if cpp sells a 2.5 drop spindle that also centers the front wheel in the wheel well?

I'm not sure. Your not centered now or the drop spindles off set it a bit?
