Re: Die-cast 67-72

I forgot to make mention of these, but the link I gave was to show one is on Ebay now. They could have done better on it. I'll get one just to have.

The Terry LaBonte truck is one I never had. Hard to find those. That's cool trivia to know.

FYI there's an interior color variation on the Wal-Mart Rad Trucks '69 Chevy. Yellow-gold and black.

Yeah. That's my pic. When I learned of the variation, I checked all the ones I had and they were the yellow-gold. They all came from the first store I found them in. Yesterday, I checked the other two stores in town that had more recently put the trucks out and they both still had a few of the '69s, all with the black interiors.

There's a new Stars & Stripes Wal-Mart exclusive series that some people are starting to find in stores now. There's a nice, blue '67 C10 in there.

Re: Die-cast 67-72

Did we ever talk about the Hot Wheels '70 blazers? They need to come out with another. This one has never been a dollar toy, all have had Real Riders. The fifth one is an Archies one. I don't care for that kind of stuff, so I repainted the sides to cover up Jughead, etc.

Ebay. What is up with sellers calling whatever they want a "Treasure Hunt"? I'm going to start reporting all such listings and would like to know everyone here would do the same. It's a totally misleading, deceptive, wrong, and should not be allows. Pure and simple, it is lying.

Yeah, the Blazer has always been a premium line casting. They have a few good castings like that I'm a big fan of that have never had a mainline release. I think it would be cool to give the Blazer some mainline releases, even if they do have to put a plastic base on it. I've only ever found the Archie one that I have two of and I have one of the Norman Rockwell release.

Anything that someone has customized or that came with Real Riders gets tagged with "Treasure Hunt." It's a bit ridiculous, I agree, but there's no way to stop it all. You just have to make sure you know more about the cars you're looking for than the sellers do to make sure you don't get duped. That's my key to successful eBay buying.

Re: Die-cast 67-72

I brought the Treasure Hunt issue up after seeing the current main line straight off the pegs zamac '52 chevy listed as Treasure Hunt. I agree part of collecting is learning about what you collect. The rules of thumb for dealers of vintage stuff is "an educated customer is the best customer", and they are more than willing to share their knowledge. But these sellers suck for doing the exact opposite, misleading collectors. We can't stop this, but I can report their listing. It's not using keywords, it's outright lying. I detest sellers of anything who go too far with keywords. I mean c'mon, keep it relevant to what you are selling. It should be a cast in stone rule on Ebay. I've searched real Chevy trucks and come up with Fords and Dodges with Chevy in the keywords. WTF? Talk about whoring out. Do they think a person looking for a Chevy will change their mind because a Ford showed up in their search? Just a waste of everyone's time, including theirs in typing worthless keywords. Even if I could consider another brand, I won't buy theirs just to defy them

Re: Die-cast 67-72

I've also had completely unrelated stuff come up in eBay searches too just because some retarded seller titles the auction to drag in more traffic. It is annoying. I see the "Treasure Hunt" issue brought up on nearly a weekly basis on the diecast groups on Facebook. Most of the time it's a veteran collector just ranting about the whole deal much as you are, but a lot of time's it ends up being a new collector that's all confused about it. And that's the worst part about it. I haven't seen any posts about a newbie that's been duped by the auctions, but I'm sure it happens a lot.

I've never sold anything from my collection on eBay, but I'm very detail-oriented and honest to a fault when it comes to stuff like that, so my listings would be very specific and to the T. I could never be a used car salesman.

Then you have stuff like this Hyper Mite. Seriously? $3,000 for a car worth $2 at most? This has to be some sort of money laundering deal or something. I see it often, though. People asking $50-60 for a current car I just saw on the pegs.

As with anything, it's always "buyer beware." I'm sure there are other collectible hobbies on eBay that have similar sneaky goings on.

Re: Die-cast 67-72

That's two qualities we share. I could tell you were detail oriented by your truck (the real one ). Yeah, it's just very annoying and goes against my grain. If I was a used car salesman I'd starve, unless it was a dealer with nothing but the best of desirable vehicles that sell themselves.

I don't get people asking what they do for current issues. You'll see one for $1.99 and right below it the same thing for $8.99. I always wonder why they waste their money on listing fees. If I was going to list something I'd buzz through a couple few pages of what I as selling and set my price by what I saw. We see things the way we do and have no idea how someone else sees it. I guess there are people who fall for this stuff, so it's not a waste. I just can't see it.

I never noticed till I took the picture of the Blazers, the gold one is facing the other direction. Is that normal or do I have a super rare error? (sarcasm) Seriously, though, is that an error?

Doing a little search, it looks like it's supposed to be facing left. It's from a Toys R Us exclusive Ford vs. GM 20-car set and they had them packaged in the box facing off against each other.
