Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

I hope you nothing but happest. I am 63 and my wife 54 and we just adopted two boys. They clasified as specal needs children. Not that they were having trouble. They are brothers and people just don't want to take on that kind of responsabilty. We have already raised three children and they all have children. So what I am telling you don't be afraid of kids. They are adults in small bodies. With their own problems and needs. I would not change this for nothing. I am sorry though you are going to get rid of your truck. Keep up the good work andGod Bless. God bless you as well for investing in those kids. In the end, they will be our legacy. I've got 3, and just were blessed with our 4th grandkid. There once was a time when we thought we wouldn't be able to have kids, and here we are. Things change, you just have to be patient.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

Id push it off a cliff before it came between my wife and I or any chance we could have a child. It still sucks to see it go and know if I were 'normal' .. things might be different.

As a man its just kinda demoralizing. Im used to running 4-5 miles a day and now till June I have to give it up for the sake of just being normal.

But its all a sacrifice Im willing to make.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

Everyone here understands and has wished you well in the coming months for you and your wife. I agree that kids are the best thing you can ever do. I could not see me without my 3. My oldest turns 16 in June and we have been building a truck for him the last couple of years. I have an old truck that I have moved 6 times in the last 15 years and started working on it again a couple of years ago. It has sat for about a year now since the kids and family life take most of my time. My wife is good about it and knows that I will get back to it someday. But know it is Korbin's turn. I am having as much if not more fun working on his with him then I have ever had working on my own truck.

I hope the best for you both and keep us updated as things move forward.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

Trucks come and go, .. I will be ordering my front wheels in the next couple days (Eric ) We got quite a bit back on our taxes so as soon as that hits I'm moving forward with the order. When they come in, get the bed back on it and some other minor stuff it will be finished and for sale. It will probably hit eBay around late April (?) just depends on when my wheels come in.

Eric - I'll PM and give you a heads up, and just send the $ + fees over via Paypal. You pretty much know what I need.

Thanks for helping me out guys, I do appreciate it.

On a positive note, The wife told me this morning I could put some of the $ from the GMC back on my 68.. so I guess I'll get to finish it too (?) We'll see. It may get a fleet bed on it though. We'll see how it goes.

You already have an experienced babysitter available... I volunteer.

That will be one (or 2) lucky baby!

We pressed in the longer wheel studs today. Now all we need is some wheels.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

Dad and I got the rear all finished up this weekend. The shocks are on, Track bar, upper / lower connected, all the wheel studs finished up, etc. We're putting the bed back on now, and I am working with Eric to get my wheels ordered on Friday. (this coming Friday)

It's going to look really good with the wood bed!

Me either. I just talked to Eric, we're working out the details on the front wheels now. I need to figure out the bed cross sills and get the holes in my bed wood in place, etc. then it all goes back together. It's snowing in Chattanooga today, so I just need some weather to spray the bedsides and we're all set.

I plan to as long as everything works out! I'll keep you posted. We have a work day up here at my shop on April the 13th. A lot of local members will be there, it would be cool if you and your dad could come up for the day!

Wow, .. I just may do that.

I have Jury duty that starts on 4/12/13. I have never done it and hopefully I won't be selected. .. Do they do stuff like that over the weekends too? Would I be stuck in the court the whole weekend ? .. or M-F ?

No sir! I've been on jury duty and its only M-F. Also your employer has to pay you for your services as a jury member if you are selected.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

I may not have front wheels by then. We'll see how it goes. I still may bring the S10 or something. I had a nice 96 Ext cab, 4.3 5 speed I sold to Dad. Maybe we can ride up in it. Super clean truck, original paint and interior. I think it has 82k original miles on it now (?) something like that. I have never seen another one this clean. (not a 96 model anyway) It's not a C10, but it will fit the bill If for some reason my wheels make it in time, I'll bring the black truck.

Chad,

That's gonna look great when all finished up! I'd love to see some more pics of the rear suspension pieces\parts installed...Oh, and the rear parking brake cables .

And, I can vouch for the S-10... It is super clean! I saw it when I met NoNeck to pick up the seat I bought from them.

If not any sooner, I will see you in B'ham for the HRPT!

Picture of the rear suspension all wrapped up..

Oh, and I took the front bumper guards off too. I think it looks much cleaner. A little rubbing compound brought the bumper up nicely.

I wish I could find a better grille for it, or dolly that one out a little. I just haven't messed with it much. I bet I could get a lot of that out.
