Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Only 2 more days of painting left!!!!

Redid the bed uppers and they look good - slight orange peel in spots, but I'm not going to risk another wet coat and have it run. It will be easy to buff out.

Tailgate blue is done, but has a few trash imperfections that will need a buffer.

Misc. little parts getting their share of love.

Tomorrow white on the bed, rear door, and tailgate. Friday flip side of misc. parts and hood touch-up. SATURDAY--- wait for it,.......... wait for it,........... Cab goes on the frame!!!

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Looks awesome! I really like the color and how everything is turning out. You handled the runs great too! I have a question though, mind you I have never painted anything other than my house, but how do you make sure the lines are perfect from panel to panel if you masked them off separately? Is the trim big enough to cover any imperfections there?

The mounting holes for the trim are directly in the center of the trim. The top of the lower trim aligns with the body line. The lower trim is exactly 4 inches, so my mounting holes are 2 inches below the body line. I put my paint cut line exactly in the middle of my mounting holes on every panel. I will be aligning the body line on all of the panels, so my trim will also line up as well as my paint lines (which are really covered by the trim anyway). Although the edges may peek out a little.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Here's a tip when painting the bolts. Just get a cardboard box and punch holes in it for the bolts to push into, then you can spray the whole head and not have them blowing around.

BTW, I only see 2 sets of door hinges. I know you didn't build a 4th door, but I think you still have a 3rd door.

I have done the bolt hole trick, but last night was just ready to shoot.

The other hinges are still on the rear door, already painted.

Looking even better! But a question... why not hang all the small parts to get both sides at the same time?

I'll be painting blue one last time anyway, so its no problem to flip and do the other side. Mainly though, it was late and I didn't want to spend the time or effort finding wire, creating a hanging spot etc, and - you still end up with a wire mark of no paint.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Almost done.

The white turned out great finally on the rear door.

I almost forgot the tailgate handle, I was planning on painting it blue, until I saw where it mounted.

"Bowed and dented" tailgate looks like a million bucks now! Thanks Chuck for letting me buy it.

Drew, everyone is watching your build on the edge of their seat. We all should be there when you take Young Frankenstein on its maiden voyage. I can just here all the screaming and clapping as you pass by. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!!! Young Frankenstein should without a doubt by on covers of every truckin mag out there. Just my opinion........

Last batch prepped and ready to go. Time for Friday Night Lights to watch Andrew play outside linebacker!!!

I'll try to knock this out at 11 tonight.

In this 1 parts picture you can see 3 trucks (body Parts) used on my monster. Blue and white cab donating glove box door and 1 air vent, Yellow burb, and a green 71 donating the tailgate hinge pins and tailgate straps.
