Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
Thanks, the exact look I'm going for
It actually doesn't fit all that bad, I expected it to fit worse. It is still going to need a bit of massaging and tweaking to be perfect. I first have to make sure everything else is as close to perfectly gapped as possible then I will know how much the hood needs. The good news is the cowl induction gives me just enough clearance for my air cleaner Thanks, I love the way it looks.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
That's a nice looking truck! I love the overall look. I really want a 68, and a cowl induction hood. I'll settle for the hood on my 71 though.
Great job!

Thanks Mike... Yeah I'm happy I didn't have to pull another piece off and change it.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
Well it seemed I was off a little bit with just about every gap, I guess that's what I get for assembling it by myself I knew it would have to be fixed so I just snugged everything until I had help with it.
Today my father was able to come over and help me fix my gaps and square everything up. I can't even explain how happy this made me, it's the first time my father has been able to help me with my truck in over a year. He is finally feeling better after his open heart surgery last year and is strong enough to help me out. I know this made his day too as he was really excited to beat on my truck as he put it I didn't take any pics as nothing was pic worthy, my father laughed about us working all day and it looked like we didn't touch the truck. I happen to snap a quick pic of last weeks hinge install as I forgot to take one.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
Your truck is looking great, progress is good! I would also say that if you get it driveable, you can enjoy it for a while and save up for the paint job.

Yeah it was great seeing him back doing what he loves Thanks, it depends on how far along I get this spring with the bodywork and mock up of all the body panels, I might just try my hand at painting it myself.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
Picked up some more parts this past week. I took advantage of the Black Friday sales and picked up a Dakota Digital Red Carbon gauge package with the bezel from AZProPerformance. Thanks again Travis for the sale. These things are sweet, can't wait to see the red led glowing at night. I also picked up some push on door seals from GMCPauls along with some misc. bolts and nuts I needed.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
Very nice build.
Nice deal on the gauges. I keep going back and forth between the white/red DD and the Auto Meter Phantoms.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
Thanks, you have a really nice build going yourself. I love the drivetrain in yours.
Thanks, I had originally planned on going with Autometers as well in a aftermarket bezel but after these came out I just had to have them. My interior is going to look pretty much stock so these will match perfectly with a stock bezel.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
Thanks, the blue ones are awesome too, it was a hard decision between blue and red but the red will match better
Thanks buddy, I'm just happy I'm finally getting someplace with it. I have decided to stick with my gut and paint it Red. In the end it is the only color I will be happy with. My issue now is do I paint it solid Red, Red with a White grill like N2Billets old truck Lucy or do Red with a White roof and grill. Right now I'm leaning towards Red with a White grill and full trim but we will see. You know how I like to change my mind
