Re: My 52 GMC Build

Great!!
Big improvement!!

I am a dragrace addict, which means I watch it all the time. In Holland we have 1 dragstrip on an airfield... I always watch on Speedvideo the races at your side of the world!!
Right now, this minute is Redemption 8.0 from Louisiana, No Prep.
Within a year or so, we see you race in those No Prep races!!

Re: My 52 GMC Build

Most of the diesel trucks I've raced would not make the boost on the strip as on the street. I learned that the stiff radials would spin on the track, even when they don't look like it or sounded like it, and you weren't getting the load like you would on the road. Even in 4x4 I saw the issue. The stuff they put on the track to keep the rubber on the grooves is slick if your tires aren't hot. I wouldn't worry too much about it honestly. At least you can make multiple passes and drive it home. That's the main thing.

Thanks for the insight Ryan good to know. Doing the burnout is still my favorite part, and the burnout box guy was enjoying them too. I'm not worried, did 9 passes and the truck just laughed at me and then we drove home pulling my little trailer.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

So I had some air system issues recently. About a week ago my air started bleeding out overnight. Found out it was the check valves, so it was leaking back through the compressors. Also on the way home from work last week the compressors never turned off 15 min drive, plugged in my tank gauge 275psi Found out my pressure sw had been collecting water even though I bleed the tanks about once a month. The sw was mounted on a lower side of a T. Now I remounted a new 165-200psi sw up so it can't happen again, new check valves and I finally mounted my 250psi blowoff valve.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

My truck has had a slight leak somewhere that i couldn't find. maybe it's my check valve? I added some ping tanks to my rear bags and the LH side has a leak some where. It's always something. Haha

Re: My 52 GMC Build

my 49' would leak down over night, couldn't find the leak anywhere. then my compressors really started struggling and would pop the breaker. low and behold I changed the leader hoses on my comps with the check valves. I gained like a minute on fill up and no leaks!!

I thought I had a bad pressure switch at one time, I believe it was a bad ground. I bought a better brand pressure switch anyway then realized my ground was a bit shaky.

Ya but if we didn't want to work on them we would all drive a new truck.

It is almost impossible to get leak free. Bad grounds cause a lot of people a lot of headaches.

They do look cheap. I put in SMC check valves and reused the leader hoses. So far so good.

Dragging that truck is cool and the burnout was also.

Go with the biggest door you can. You'll appreciate it down the road. I put my 12x20 right in the middle of the gable end. This was a decision I went back and forth on for a long time before pulling the trigger, but I'm glad I did. Makes it easier to move projects and drivers in and out without rearranging everything, and gives you plenty of room to stab a trailer in there.
