Re: What did you do to your truck today!
traded the hood hinges off of my truck that i will no longer be able to use for a passanger side 68 fender that has already had the marker hole welded up its pretty strait and not rusty but does need a little work. also, does anyone know what color that gold is, its the original colore for the fender? thanks.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Just replaced the front shocks. Must've been the original shocks that I took off. Unbelievable! This thing must've drove like a brick. The old shocks didn't move a bit when I compressed them after I took them off and the rubber was completely shot. The PO of this poor truck never did a damn thing to maintain her.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Worked on getting my ignition timing so the engine will start, run, and idle with on problem. This has been an ongoing problem with this engine.
91 TPI that was switch to a carb. Runs great @12deg btdc, but hard to start. At 4 deg, it ran good, but did not seem strong. Already tried the SBC Timing Link in the Engine section. Think I need an MSD 6AL box for a hotter spark. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I cant really drive mine but..
Shovelled about 2ft of snow off of it and pulled the QJet so I could replace the primary pulloff and setup the secondary tension. I rebuilt the carb and couldnt figure out why the hell it was so hard to start - apparently the pulloff has a small spring on it to keep the primary butterfly closed at startup, When it got cold it took two people to start it.... should run llike a champ now. I love these carbs but I think every single one Ive seen or had is different. Thank you Quadrajetparts.com ! |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I finally got the right torque converter, and man, what a difference that baby made.
That, and I got my tranny built to handle the power the motor is pushing. I'm not sure how much that is, but it's a 355, and I have a TH350 and 3.08 differential, and I can smoke the tires on the highway at 67mph... it was freaking AWESOME too!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Today i pulled the remainder of the carpet out of the cab to assess floor rust. Besides the rust, i found a bunch of pot seeds under there. I bet theyre older than I am.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Took a test drive in the 70 with its newly installed T5 Astro Van Tranny. Took two saturdays and too much time laying on the cold Ohio concrete but will be worth it.

I have been customizing my Dash and Center Console for the past few days. today was my day to mock up my console and get a feel of how I want it to look.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Let's see...I pulled the bed off the truck, cleaned the frame, removed the old 12 bolt rearend and installed my 9'' Ford w/Detroit locker. I sprayed more oven cleaner inside the cab to touch up a few places where the paint was stubborn. Pressure washed the whole truck. I have pictures but don't know how to post them.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Waxed it, sold the bugly canopy on CL, changed the oil, atf, and coolant. Replaced the thermostat and temp sender. Reinstalled the seat and mocked up the seat belt mounts.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
did some cutting of uneeded under dash wireing and some wire wheeling, then i sprayed some rust converter around where the windshield rubber goes, behind the dash/inside fire wall, and above the inside of windshield, and started wire wheeling the paint and bondo off of my replacement fender so i can fix/redo it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
pulled a bad spark plug out, replaced wire to HEI and put in 12v wire, cleaned the engine mostly, replaced neg bat cable, learned what kick panels are and looked at mine on the driver side, no rust so thats good, where are other bad but common areas for rust? my truck is running pretty smooth with no leaks as of yet, still need to check compression and timing, and changed out oil and filter. Woot there was an engine in there!!!

Met with the Custom Upholsterer, to pick out Leather Material/Color,
to wrap my new steering wheel, and recover the Visor/Dash Pad, and Interior Door Panels.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Jacked all four corners up to get ready to do some under-the-truck stuff that I probably shoud have done when I was frame-off.
Ground down the front rotors to accept the Boss 338 20's (....it was really easy). Tomorrow, back under for brake lines, trans linkage, etc. And then inside the cab.
