Re: 53 Surburban "Family Truckster"
Update////
So on Friday I took the day off to get the Suburban aligned and the AC charged. The shop was 3 miles from the house and I planned to take side streets around the lake to get there....Oh yeah I should mention I had not installed my front glass yet. Late on Thursday, my son and I pulled the Suburban out of the garage (for the first time under its own power) and planned to take it around the neighborhood. A few feet from the house there was a screeching noise from the rear wheel. We came back to home base to make an adjustment. The "roller" rims I'm using have a terrible offset so I was not surprised. The trip around the hood was uneventful (which was good). I have a friend in the same hood that is putting together a k5 bagged blazer so we though it was only right to take a photo in front of his house to prove we where on the road before he was. Once I learned that Fridays forecast called for 40 degrees with 90% rain I decided I needed to call an audible and barrow an enclosed trailer. The Suburban got aligned. Between a wedding I was in and a busy holiday weekend I didn't get much time in the garage. I did manage to install the front glass with the help of my boys. I need to re-bleed my brakes before stretching the Suburban's legs a bit more. Marc

Re: 53 Surburban "Family Truckster"
Picture tease....
I have been struggling with a brake issue but I think I have it figured out. I have been busy working on other aspects of the build. I have 80% of the carpet pad and carpet in. I have more of my glass in. Oh and there is this....... First time I had the wheels and sheet metal mounted to confirm there are no clearance issues. No easy task when laid out over 22's. The tire size is 265 x 40 x 22. That is 30.35" dia. Marc

Re: 53 Surburban "Family Truckster"
looking good.
Those wheels have a similar design to the Pontiac Rally 2 wheels, with the raised 'spoke' look, but stretched ...........very nice. Can't wait to see it all together on the road

Re: 53 Surburban "Family Truckster"
Well another goal missed...I had been thrashing for about a week to be able to pick my son up from school on this last day from middle school but I ran out of time. I have made some progress tho. I started assembling the interior so I can mount my rear seats. Once I finish that I will throw in at least one back seat and try to get some miles on it this weekend. We have some grad parties to go to and I thought it would be fun for the family to bomb to that in the "Truckster".
Oh the cover in the back is to cover the watts link that will come thru the floor when aired out. I showed it a while back but it probably makes more sense seeing it in position. Once the rear seat is in place you wont really see it. I sill have some odds and ends like a transition strip where the floor meets the body back by the rear cargo doors. I went with German square weave carper in a gray tone. I plan to make some nice large floor mat's once I see how much carpet I have left to work with. Have a great weekend and get out in the garage and get something done.

Re: 53 Surburban "Family Truckster"
Thanks, its getting there. I really the color contrast of the brown and off white from the seats. It's not noticeable in pics but it looks pretty good in person..
Thanks Marc
