Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I blew a rear brake line while coming back from GG PPG Nats while going about 75 mph. Good thing I caught it there and I could slow it down instead of SLAMMING into the guy in front of me. Real good thing I had friends who helped me too. We band-aided it and I made it home all in one piece. Thanks Frank, Dave and Joey.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Thanks! It looks a bit better in pictures than in real life, it does get used as a truck and we still have about 1/4 mile of gravel road in front of our house.

Mark,
Looks like those backup lights really work great. Are they a big amp draw such that you had to use a relay? |

I was disappointed I couldn't use the original 1133 bulbs, since they have such a distinctive appearance: The reality being you can't see them inside the lamp anyway, and they're 6 volt, and on 6v they only last 200 hours, while the 1156's last 1200. I think I might find a way to put them on display though just because they look so unusual. Interestingly, I found information on the box label that dates the lamps to February 1951. They even came with a spool of wax coated cloth wrapped wire, which had melted into a solid glob. They must have been stored somewhere very dry and hot, because the paper mounting templates fractured like 500 year old parchment. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
It will all be worth it in the end though. I found the hood and the back of the cab the most entertaining. They'll keep you busy just about as long as everything else combined.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I have been looking for almost a year. Everything around here for doors is worse than what I have. Good thing the inner and outer lowers are available!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Well, nothing yet...but I plan on blasting the drivers' side radiator support tonight. Hopefully I won't have to work this weekend and will have time to blast a lot more parts.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Leaned on the bed and looked at all the junk in the back. Thought, it's to damn hot outside to run to the dump with no AC in it. Went back inside and watched tv.

Cleaned the stickers and goo off the new Gabriel gas shocks that just arrived, now shopping online for a toggle switch with an illuminated tip to use as a back up light indicator.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Well...you would not think it would take 8 hours to prep 2 cowl corners but...I had 3 sets of these things, one set was rusted out on the top and were original to my truck, one set did not fit the truck right, the other had an 1 inch antenna drilled in with a 3/16 bit, so I ended up cutting the rust out on the original ones and repairing them, filled the emblem holes while I was at it, 8 hours later I have a set ready for final sanding and coating the inside with por 15, next step is repairing the hood !!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Looks like you are well on your way to having it turn out as nice as your Henry J. It's nice to see one restored, since many of us make numerous modifications.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Thanks Mark! I only have $300 left in my fenderside budget for 2010. The painter wants another $200 but the paint, reducer and hardener have all been purchased. As well as all of the hardware. I changed my mind on the color and will not go with the original light gray, but will instead do ivoery over light blue. I am surprised you remembered that I owned a Henry J. Here is another image of that car.
