Re: 58 GMC Project

I love those Chevelles too, my first car was a 67 chevelle that I built with my dad and drove to high school.

You should put a link to that build in your sig so we can check it out.

I am just going to be patient and see how much time I can scrape together to work on the projects, but family stuff comes first. Here is a couple of race car pictures. I have tried to not get to involved with it but can't seem to stay away...lol.

Sorry to here your Dad is not doing well, maybe some time for things to heal up and he will be back to normal. That car is very cool! I love that paint job! I have never seen a distribitor coming out of the front like that before.

Re: 58 GMC Project

I hope he heals up and can get back out in the garage. I went down there today and mowed his property...with the help of my brother...lol. He was really struggling. The distributor drives right off the front of the Jesel belt drive. We used it in the boat when we were running it. It helps because the intake is really big and there isn't much clearance for a convention distributor. That is actually a vinyl wrap...it is really nice. Looks a lot like paint. Good luck with your chevelle.

ive got a 66 big block elcameo that Ive had for 13+ years. got the new quarter panels welded on and sort of just stopped right there. would be a beautiful car. I have a 396 and muncie four speed for it, just not my pick to finish first! but I will never sell it. I would love a black lowered 66 elcameo.

Re: 58 GMC Project

Cal, I have sat and read the entire thread like a book. Wow. Your truck obvious has shown how much passion you have for the hobby. I have notice that so many on this site share the same love and passion. I look forward to sharing my build and learning all I can as I journey through my special build for a lost friend. Congrats on a beautiful truck and for sharing you skills.

No I didn't notice. I haven’t been hanging a round here much lately. I have been busy with building my wife's 66 Chevelle. Thanks for pointing that out though. Hope all is well with you and you haven’t blown out any more bags

Re: 58 GMC Project

You have a great build thread and a super nice truck for all your hard work!
if i may ask, what did you use for your weatherstipping for your one piece side windows? I just pick up a truck and it don't have any thing at all for weather stipping and no vent glass. I don't know what to run.
any advice would be great thanks

I bought the kit from Brothers Trucks. They are not the best weather strips, kinda cheap and my windows rattle. I can't remember who but there was someone here who made his own kit using much better weather stripping.

Re: 58 GMC Project

Check out the one piece window conversion thread in my sig. He explains about the weatherstrip in there. I've done the door mods and have the weatherstrip but havn't gotten around to getting glass cut so I can't tell you how it fits. Hope that helps.

Re: 58 GMC Project

Just finished reading all 58 pages. Your truck is amazing. I can only hope mine comes out as nice. Like the tail lights. Recently had seen them on a truck at a show and really liked them. Needless to say they are ordered to go in the parts pile.
