Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.

When I saw the third photo I realized for the first time how cool those hoods are. I think that the two tone really makes it. For some reason it reminds me of a shark.

Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.

My Grandfather did that with me a lot in the winter. Pulled me on a sled behind a 3 wheeler. I should have appreciated those times more but I certainly cherish the memories.

It might be a x3 depending on what the third truck behind the tow truck is.

38 Identical 1965 C10 Panels

Solid white, white grill, white bumpers, white hubcaps, RV mirrors, & radio delete. Maybe three speed trans. "E" California black plates- Exempt from taxes. Plate numbers 386xx. Probably all made at Fremont.

Only one wheel can be seen and it is WHITE. Shouldn't it be black?

Picture found on FB. States they are California Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Personnel ... at the Meadowview CHP Academy. The CHP’s Motor Carrier personnel, today known as Mobile Road Enforcement officers, conduct mobile commercial vehicle inspections, including maintenance and driver records, to ensure large commercial vehicles operate safely.

I have a 1966 C10 Suburban that was originally a CA state-owned vehicle. Originally it was identical to these except for being a Suburban, right down to the E plate. It has an "SPC" paint code although it appears to be 521 white. I have never figured out what was special.

Heres a full picture of one . The wheels would have been black , yes ,but this being a Fleet order it could have been "Special Paint" in which it was painted a slightly different white and or just painting the wheels . Very cool pictures for sure !

I agree, and great photo. Note also, it has 3 piece 15"rims with tubes, that was the way it was done back in the day if you wanted the heavy duty set up.

Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.

That could explain the Special on my truck.

There are numerous places where the original paint shows and they are protected from sun or heat, so they seem unchanged. The color looks like a match for 521 White, but it could be just slightly different. It seems crazy to create another color so close to a standard GM color, especially on a government vehicle.

White wheels make more sense to make it Special.

When I got it, the wheels had been replaced with '67 truck (15x7) black wheels and '67 white dog dish hubcaps, so I don't exactly what how it was originally built. The SPID sheet makes no mention of non-standard wheels or tires so I think it did not have 3-pc wheels or tube-type tires like these Panels.

My '66 was originally used in Stockton, California- only 40 miles from Meadowview.
