Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
Thanks Palf!
Thanks! Quote:
Thanks! Yeah I'm pretty stoked with the sound. Tried to get as much of the raspyness out of it as I could. Those mufflers helped alot and next will be decently long tailpipe tips a good inch bigger in diameter to mellow it out more.

Thanks, I figured it answered the 2 most common questions, what year? and why isn't it painted yet?

NICE! I hate the statement, it's going to look great when you paint it. I look over at my truck and say, you don't like my custom paint job?

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
I didn't do anything sexy to my truck but I had a small transmission leak at the mechanical speedo connection. Finally (hopefully) fixed the leak! Leaks are super annoying!

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
haha..a little. What I really love is when they think cause it "needs" a paint job it is junk...so I open the hood to show off the engine candy! LOL
No, it's a Tremec T56 Magnum 6 speed. Love the trans...hated the leak. I finally bought a new mechanical speedo adapter from Bowler (has multiple Orings). Pricey, but worked! |

Okay. I only asked because I had a 350 that I could not get to stop leaking from that location. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
Picked up my Suburban body on Friday after blasting and primer. A little rougher than I thought.
Spent the weekend assembling my suspension, also cleaned and painted the engine. Not quite the color I wanted but it will work.

Moved my engine forward around 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch to give me more space between the distributor and the firewall.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
Chased an electrical issue until I finally figured out that there was a grounding issue for the bulb socket to one of the tail light housings. Putting the housing on the negative post didn't work. I had to run a wire from the bulb socket to the metal housing to complete the circuit. Strange, just on the one side. I could have just bought a new housing, but a short chunk of wire was cheaper.

Bled the brake and clutch systems, replaced the leaking air bags with springs and shocks and got it back on the ground.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
It's been some days, but I wanted to post this.
First time using my new tractor to do something with my truck. Boy oh boy - perfect fit with the bucket.

It's about time..
I used to be able to just lift the hood off by hand by myself. Seriously.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
I modified my finned air filter cover so that I can us a center stud instead of the complicated way it was originally attached. I might end up stripping the paint and having it polished to go better with my new aluminum heads on my new 355.

After looking at the photos I think I need to even it out a little better and paint it black.

I'm digging that truck, end of story. If I had it, it would be all black, except for the Ed Hubbs style flame job.
