Re: It's just a work truck!

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my mess!

Is that a sbc 350 you have on there?
If so, do you recall the info on your headers? Those look exactly what I want to get on mine.
If you could shoot me the ordering info on those I would appreciate it, cause if I have to go thru one more teenager on a computer at the parts store I am gonna choke someone..... Ok maybe not, but it wont be pretty.

I like your valve covers too

Your rig is looking tons better than mine, and mine isnt going to be a work truck !!

Yes it's a sbc. I got the headers from a place in Glendale AZ. The Chrome Guy. They are made in China, I don't know anyone that has used them to know if they are any good or not?. They fit really well, NO clearance issues. I think he get's 275.00 a pair?. The label has PC-5016 Ceramic sbc ceramic coated headers, Camaro, Chevelle, Nova, Truck. Need more info let me know.

Hey Darryl- how is the Gaylords lid coming? Have you got it to function the way it should yet? How about some pitcures of it on the truck.

Re: It's just a work truck!

I don't know how thrilled I am with it yet?. It's two feet longer than my dad's & bro's, obviously. It flexes 2 or 3 inches when you pull it down. I'm worried of my paint cracking. I called GAYLORDS and they say they have no problems with any paint cracking. I'm going to talk to the paint store about flex agent additive for the paint.

Re: It's just a work truck!

Back to some older pics. Heres a few of the cab with the guide coat sprayed on before final sanding. I just used Walmart brand rattle can flat black .88 cents a can, It's going to end up on the floor anyway... What a p.i.t.a!. And we still have my tailgate & bed lid to paint yet. Oh, then on to my bro's 63' final paint job. The FUN never stop's....

Re: It's just a work truck!

A few pics of some of the first paint to be spilled on this thing. We are not painters for sure, but we can wing it!.. ( IT'S JUST A WORK TRUCK! )...Tried to rig up a make-shift paint booth in my garage, worked o.k., but what a mess!. Still get some debris in the paint.

Re: It's just a work truck!

We used the same roll on bedliner from Walmart to brush on the inside of the cab. After we bolted the doors back on, we leveled the bed on jackstands. we bolted the front inner and outer fenders on, so we could line up the body to paint the white stripe down the side.

Re: It's just a work truck!

When I ordered my carpet kit from Brothers, I ordered an extra yard to cover the back of the cab. I used a piece of thin wood to glue the carpet to. I had a couple of 6x9s to mount behind the seats. I'm no upholsterer, but it's good enough. ( IT'S JUST A WORK TRUCK! )...

Re: It's just a work truck!

If you baffle your speakers they will sound better and last longer.
I particularly like the foam cup ones that just mount up between the mounting surface and the speaker. These help protect speakers that are mounted in areas that are possible or likely to get wet too (like in doors).

Looks good man! How do you like the carpet?

IT'S ALIVE! IT'S ALIVE!.. well, it runs, a few minor problems, but all in all it runs good. I sat on a little stool and drove it out on the street for it's maiden voyage on saturday afternoon. Getting closer I can smell it, Oh wait, thats just exhaust fumes!...

Re: It's just a work truck!

What a cool truck!! Looking awesome. I like everything about it. The sidetrim looks wicked! We thought about doing that to the '65 while it was at the paintshop... but the local airbrush artist never showed up for the estimate... So it didn't happen...

Re: It's just a work truck!

I painted the white stripe on before the striper came and did the painted chrome. Friday I took the truck to get an alignment, that didn't go well. the place I hade a apointment with couldn't do it they said it was too low. I called a place on the other side of town that said could take me. so with a round trip of about 40 miles and a CRACK IN MY BRAND NEW WINSHIELD!!! the front end is aligned. Two steps forward, one step back!...

Re: It's just a work truck!

I saw this truck at the 67th and Bell show last night. This is one of the nicest "WORK TRUCKS" I have ever seen. For any members going to the Brother's Show and Shine you need to stop by and check out this truck. Keep in mind that this whole build was done in his garage. Nice work guys!

Re: It's just a work truck!

It looks like your paint turned out well but an FYI to other people painting in a garage, it really helps with the dust if you wet your floor down. It captures the dust from the paint instead of kicking it up onto the vehicle. You do have to be really careful so you don't get the water on the vehicle when the hose drags across the floor. I've painted lots of cars in my dads garage and they usually come out pretty good. Even in a paint booth you will still get some dust in the paint. That's what buffing is for right, haha
