Hey Burbin' is that a real Highlander? I am pretty sure bucket seats were not available for '72 Suburbans. I still like it though.

I think buckets were available but the 2nd row would not be full width with a 3rd row as well.

Since the truck is on air ride and can drop all the way to the ground I rearrange things a little but did like having the backseat in there even though it's kind of unusable

^ that's clean! I have the same seats [not original] and was considering mounting the last row backwards..

like the old wagons with the fold down third row seat, be cool for the kids..

and I had an idea for a hitch mounted two step for them to climb up the back, minimize the seat hopping they already do now..



these came with my 72 GMC K1500 [not original] but I've already got the proper front and center full burb benches for it..

So I posted early on in this thread that I parted a blue highlander. I had the front bench still but it was shredded. Finally found what I thought was the glove box door, apparently it was not the correct door, I was told there was no highlander code on the spid. Must have been the wrong door because I found the rest of this stuff buried in the barn today. I know, how the heck did I forget I had this?

The cloth is perfect. The vinyl is perfect except on the third row seat there is about a four inch tear and one of the arm rests is munched up some.

Id really like to figure out a way to get these things as clean as possible. Cloth part is just going to take a vacuum, the rest, a little more haha. I was thinking about letting it sit in the sun to bring the seat structure back. The were stacked on top of each other making them smoosh up a bit. But I don't want to put them in the sun until I get em clean.

Any pointers on cleaning these up without hurting them?

EDIT: That's just bits of hay, not tears on the plaid.

I guess you could always take them to a professional interior shop. I always use a mild soap (easy on the soap) and a soft scrub brush on my dirty stuff, then a shop vac to get most of the rinse water out of the cloth material. Seems to work pretty good.

Not sure this helps but for the Highlander K5's that were assembled at Flint there is no "Highlander Plaid" called out on the SPID - unlike the K5 Highlanders assembled at St Louis. The Flint SPIDs say something like "Custom Trim Combination" and are typically promo package vehicles. These Flint K5s are those that pop up as "hidden" highlanders. St Louis SPIDs do state "Highlander...".

I have had good luck with Oxiclean and warm water with stiff bristle brush. Just be easy with the cloth areas using the brush.

Just mentioning on the off chance that suburban SPID does call out a Highlander. It's another example of variation among assembly plants.

Ive only had one blue burb and this is the spid I posted. These seats are out of that burb so is the rest of this interior pictured. The front bench also matched, but was thrashed. I have no idea where else this glove box door would have come from.

Well I’m wrong ... again ...I’m out at the farm on my seat quest again and I found all three rows of the blue custom cloth interior. Also found a third row parchment with cloth centers, a few more plain ol junky truck benches, and one more second row burb.

I brought some simple green out here and a soft bristle brush to see if I can clean some of that vinyl up a bit on the highlander seats.

I don't think that door goes with the seats. With 3 row seating it should be listed on the spid as center & rear seat. When it says rear seat it normally means only 2nd row and it is the wide one. *at least on the ones I have come in contact with *

Be careful with the simple green on the fabric. It has stained one of mine so I use the oxiclean on everything

Im stumped at this point lol. I didn't mean to jack this thread. I have two sets of three seats. One set that goes with the spid I posted and one highlander set I obviously have no idea where I got them lol. Swore I only have had one blue burb ... but?

I ended up not cleaning anything. They changed the no freeze line out at the farm to a quick disconnect and the hose I brought out was regular and the hose at the farm is shorter than I needed. But thanks for the tip on the simple green. I was only going to use it on the vinyl since the cloth is fine, but you know how it goes ... a little slop over no matter how careful you are. Just look at my shirts when Im done eating dinner haha!

Spid A52 would have been front bench only. Since Suburbans are people movers they probably were not ordered that way often.

An all purpose cleaner, nylon brush, and toothbrush will get 'em looking good again. I used Meguiar's all purpose cleaner, but there are a ton of different ones out there.

Thanks tidmack that's some more good info. Im going to get some of the suggested cleaning supplies and tools and see if I can get these cleaned up. Im going to try to very carefully remove them from the seats if they clean up well. Need some funds to buy door panels and a bench cover for my K10. Ill probably clean em up nice and mess em up on the removal haha!
