Re: My Blue 1957 build
Hey Blue,
I like where you mounted your engine harness computer on the floor under the front seats. Leaves the area under the dash available to other stuff. How did you route the wiring harness and how much longer did you have to extend the wires? Are you using a custom harness from some supplier or did you modify it yourself? What steering column are you using? Any pictures of the column mounting? |

Re: My Blue 1957 build
We needed the space under the dash for the a/c unit. Those things take up alot of space. The harness was run up the tranny tunnel. I believe it was extended 3ft. It is a custom harness from Street & Performance in Arkansas. Really nice harness and they have everything from mild to wild LS motors and components. The steering column is an IDIDIT column. I will try to remember my camera the next time i go up to the shop. Need to take more pictures of other work done and maybe video the motor firing tomorrow.

Re: My Blue 1957 build
Where did you get the steering shafts and u-joints? Did you have to fabricate the mounting bracket for the intermediate support or is it available from someone?

Quote:
The steering shaft and u-joints are from CPP. The intermediate mount is just a metal tab that you can pickup from a hardware store or metal supply shop. |

Re: My Blue 1957 build
Well i havent updated too much lately. Today i went and got the front end all squared up a best as possible with the camber and the toe settings. Truck is on the ground and runs. Drove on the property that the shop is on. First time i have ever driven that truck. I was too young to before. LS1 definetly has some BALLS. Still need to work out the bugs in the computer. Doesnt want ti idle very well at all. Tomorrow i am taking the fenders down and going to start fitting panels.

Re: My Blue 1957 build
Just a little update. Been fitting the body and mounting up the little things and cleaning parts up. Got some new goodies to fit on it eventually. Trying to get a few things buttoned up at the shop so i can bring it back home and work on it here. My dad just picked up a really nice rolling chassis for his '58. Got a great deal on it, so that will be another project i take part in that is 25+ years overdue.

Re: My Blue 1957 build
I havent been on here for awhile. Been meaning to get some shots of what we have been up to. mounted remote reservoir on firewall and ran the line inside. Came out really nice. ALL the a/c line are fitted and mounted up. E-brake cables came in. Strip original door and realized its not as bad as we thoughts, so got that in the works. Door fit cab alot better then the two others i tried. Just about ready for me to bring it home to finalize some things before i pull it apart again for paint and powder. Getting my exhaust done tomorrow so hopefully get it dyno tuned next week.

Re: My Blue 1957 build
Thanks. It looks good and was easy to do. CPP sells a kit, but this one has been altered to only have the one fill line.

Re: My Blue 1957 build
I brought the truck back home today. Had it dyno tuned. Runs smooth now. Got my new e-brake cables and my radiator overflow. Need to get them installed. Waiting on bed wood and strips so i can get that all squared away and get the fuel door in place. Definitely nice to have it home again.
