Ha... Yes sir, love bright colors. I usually paint my trucks blue. Thought I would step outside the box.

Yellow body, black undercarriage. Black fuel tank, black drivers step. Yellow wheels, black hubs and spike lugs.

That is what I envision.

I should mention that my business colors are yellow and black. I plan on doing some subtle advertising with this machine.

Not a 100% on the yellow wheels, lots to do before that... ha.

My 72 C50 Project
Was a 218" wheel base box truck, with 4 drive shalf's.
Rebuilding the brakes was a real pain.
Working on the body now, paint maybe next week.

Nice ride, I cannot wait to get the box mounted and get a real life feel for how it will look.

Thanks for the comments!
The rear end is a two speed and the high side is a 6.30, I need to replace the trans with a 5 speed overdrive or an auto/w/od to get over 50 mph. Not real sure which way to go. It does look cool but running around town is another thing.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Ok i think im going to have to use your method of wire wheel and paint thinner/stripper... I was using a 4" roloc bristle disc and it was slow and i got hit in the nuts like 5 times from bristles breaking off...That **** hurts......Way to slow

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Well done so far! Keep up the great work!! I look forward to your posts...

I too am a Canadian - and I am building up my own recent purchase (a week ago) of a 1963 C60 into a stepsider pick-up. It will be a custom long box (11') with the original stepsider fenders 'opened up' for the larger wheels. I hope to finishe the box design this weekend and order the steel next week.

Got a few more parts painted up, I gave the frame a second coat of black.

Got the transmission and bell housing painted up.

Tomorrow night a final coat on the firewall.

Hope to have the engine in for the weekend.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Put the engine and transmission in last night.

SM465 gave me a work out... awkward and heavy.

Lining input shaft and clutch was some more fun.

Starting to make some progress now. Hope to get it ready to be fired up this weekend.

Got a chance to work on the truck this afternoon. Blasted up some parts and got things painted.

Got a few things back on the truck.
