Looking good Paul. Did you find the inner 1/4 pc. you were looking for? I just picked up 2 parts burbs and I will check them out to see if either has a decent pc. if you are still in need. Pending snow this evening may hang me up a little but i will check 1st chance I get if you do need it.

Re: NJ Suburban

More bodywork. With the mild winter here in NJ the usual 5 snowblower repairs a week I saw last year are non existent this year. The plus is lots of Suburban time in the garage.

The inner part 3rd door rocker that is part of the floor was a pain to fabricate. Glad I saved the entire roof of my original Suburban for sheet metal repair material. This weekend I'll paint everything inside with either POR15 or epoxy primer and then weld on the outer rocker and the quarter panel patch!

Re: NJ Suburban

All the treated rust and homemade patch panel primed with KBS. I need to collect the door from storage and re hang it before welding in the new rocker and lower quarter piece. I'm sure my storage garage isn't plowed out yet! We got about 8" here in NJ last night. I'm loving my garage heater!

Re: NJ Suburban

And more progress! Welded in the quarter patch. Once it is epoxy primed and seam sealed I'll weld in the rocker.

Re: NJ Suburban

Moving right along, looking good. I can't seem to find time to work on any of mine, too busy cutting up parts trucks.

Was this pretty much the bulk of the metal replacement or do you need to do driver side as well?

Re: NJ Suburban

Richard both front rockers still need to be done as well as the driver side lower quarter. There is still a long way to go! I got the rocker inner and outer panels but they will need a lot of fabricating since they are pickup parts. The door had to come out of storage so that I could match up the body lines. Spent all morning fussing with the alignment!

Re: NJ Suburban

I was going to say, the door alignment looked better than factory. Good job.

I should ask, does that patch have the bead edge or no?

I bought a slightly larger patch and it has the beaded edge but the rest of the wheel arch patch does not. I am trying to figure out how I am going to make it look right.

Re: NJ Suburban

Dave the beaded edge matches the factory edge pretty well. I saw your post with your patch and the issues you are having. I think the wheel arch patch that LMC sent has the beaded edge but I'll have to check. Years from now I hope I have the patience to align the door again!

Re: NJ Suburban

Got the panels welded in epoxy primed and seam sealed. Tomorrow I'll shoot the sanding primer. I've got some warpage in the rear quarter but I'm really happy with the panel fit.

Re: NJ Suburban

Wow it's been a while!

Got some work done on the front right side this past week. It will get a coat of epoxy primer before the rocker goes on.

GTO I’ve got way to many hours in this. The front rockers are tough because you have to modify a truck rocker.

Re: NJ Suburban

Getting ready to prep and prime the cowl and windshield area. The plan for the rust on the window frame is to treat and paint it with POR 15 and hit it with the Omni epoxy primer while the POR is still tacky. It's already been wire brushed with my 4" and die grinders.
