Re: 79 Silverado long box build
I'd like to do that, except its against the regulations on the road here. Tires can't hang out and need mudflaps in order it to be street legal. Bumpers also can't be higher than 30" .

Re: 79 Silverado long box build
Ah, I see. Go for it then or... move down here where there's none of that white stuff either. lol
Are those gumbo monster mudders? I had a set of 40s on the blazer I just sold.

Re: 79 Silverado long box build
Haha thanks. when i'm done the motor in my mustang race car i'll be pulling this one out and doing a minor heads and cam on it. I was thinking of going to a BB but i don't want to deal with it right now.
Then its on to interior i guess. I'm going to talk to my boss tomorrow about building some bumpers. Right now i'm 3" over the legal limit :/

Re: 79 Silverado long box build
Thanks guys. heres one more.
I'm pulling the motor this weekend and giving it a look over. Something just doesn't feel right with it. plus i got some bolts to drill out in it. After this. I'm looking for axles to beef this sucker up. I've been on pirate 4x4 for awhile now. and i've been looking at what i should be doing for upgrades and it seems like i should do cross over and hydro assisted steering. And after going for a quick wheel lastnight in the snow. The truck definitley steered itself instead of me. so Axles, wheels(beadlocks possibly..) then steering. then interior.

Re: 79 Silverado long box build
Well got it running. Power steering keeps blowing hoses off. I know i need those push on lock fittings but i can't seem to find any around here. So i think i'm just gonna do a hydrolic assist steering since the truck needs it anyways. and do the 1 tons all at once. I heads a knocking noise coming from the motor. I haven't taken a look to see what it is yet. i'm just getting tired of working on it and want to enjoy it.

Re: 79 Silverado long box build
Plug wires seem to be touching the headers? Get a power steering hose from a hydraulics shop? You must be using hose clamps. That won't work.

Well, truck isn't finished and I don't have the room for it anymore. I also want to move out to a new place in a couple months..
