Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole

No ETA on the Porterbuilt crossmembers & c-notch . I need these pieces to finalize my gas tank, fuel lines, brake lines and the wiring. Which all has to trial fitted before taking it all apart for blasting & paint.

On the upside, I have an eta for the PSI engine/trans harness (5/10), the remaining fuel line pieces (5/7), s/s brake lines from inline tube (5/9). Geez I really need my Porterbuilt pieces. Oh please finish my pieces Nate.

Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole

Trans mount showed up today... It's in. Rest of my fuel line stuff is here too. I can't mock up the lines or tank though. Have I mentioned that I am really getting to a stuck point without the Porterbuilt stuff. Gotta have the C-notch in place & the crossmembers for gas tank placement.

Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole

Ed, brother its like going to a fantastic restaraunt .. if the parking lot is empty on Sat night you can get seated fairly quickly yes but why aren't there any other people there?

If the parking lot is full, 2 hr wait.. chances are the food is the reason for that. People flock to the top notch stuff. What sucks is the wait time.

Hang in there buddy. When you see the notch, I promise its worth the wait. .. my bet is you'll be glad you did.

Thanks Chad. I know you're right, but I still blame you for me buying the Porterbuilt stuff... Or that's what I tell my wife

Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole

PSI LSX engine/trans harness & ecu showed up tonight. It looks to be a fantastically built harness and the instructions seem to be very thorough. I wished I was actually close enough to need this harness to be "ridin". I think I'd be rolling in an afternoon.

Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole

You and I are doing almost the exact same things with the vortec swap, I had to design custom adapters for my CPP perches as well because the 3" forward adapters didn't work, CPP needs to stop selling it for our application.
I have the PSI standalone harness also.
It's nice to see someone else doing the swap and documenting their progress in detail.
Subscribed.

I agree on the CPP pieces...poor design for sure. And it great to hear from someone else going down the same road!

Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole

She sure can! She grew up driving her Grand Daddy's '56 Ford. That's my next project vehicle. She inherited it recently. It's rough as a night in jail, but a very cool body style.

Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole

Just heard from Nate @ Porterbuilt and parts are STILL 1-2 weeks out!!! These pieces better be absolutely stellar because its already been 7 weeks for a set of c-notches and 4 tubular crossmembers and rear lower shock mount member. It's killing my time line.

Dang man.. I wish I could make it.

(Not because of your wife.. ) I'd just like to see the show and meet all the board members.

Did you get the upper shock bar too?

Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole

Yeah, whatever dude .

I ordered the upper & lower shock bar, front crossmember, rear most crossmember and the Panhard arm crossmember (spans the frame rails above where the Panhard bar mounts to the driver's side frame rail), and the C--Notch. I gotta have these to fit the gas tank, gas lines, brake lines, etc. Killin' ME!!! I'm not going to make the HRPT with the GMC I'm afraid, so I'll have to do it in the, dare I say it, Mustang :O

Do you have stock trailing arms or AM/ tube arms?

Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole

I have 3 sets of stock trailing arms, but I'm using a set of CPP tubular ones that I scored. Why? Have I screwed something up?

Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole

The lower shock bar and the bottom end of the track bar needs a tab of some sort to bolt up to the a trailing arms. Using stock arms there's a bracket Nate sells to make them work.

Pics in my build.
