Re: My 64 C-10 fleetside shortbed build
LOL, Nah my arms and shoulders feel pretty good compared to blocking that body filler. I blocked it first with 180 grit and then the 360 grit. I only have a couple small spots that need another coat. Im pretty happy with it. Flips what are you going to paint the inside floor of your cab with??

Re: My 64 C-10 fleetside shortbed build
i like the lizard skin, but was researching the paint and body section and found u-pol raptor bed liner material 109.00 with free shipping and i had often said i would to take the cab and have the underside done with linex, might go this way and just paint the inside and use the jute backing fire wall pad with some dynamat then carpet. ithink the bed liner material which is tintable would look good and be tough. what do you think?

Re: My 64 C-10 fleetside shortbed build
I just ordered some new 3 inch drop springs from cpp. Now I have to replace the A arm ball joint. How hard are these things to press out?? Anyone check carquest or napa for new ball joints. Wheres the best place to buy them?

Re: My 64 C-10 fleetside shortbed build
Thanks C. Brown. It works pretty good and was cheap to build and fun.
I Supported the bottom a arm on a 6 inch peice of c channel and a dozen pops with the sledge hammer and the ball joint fell out. I called around and carquest and napa has the replacement ball joints for 25$ each. Now I have to tear the other side apart.

Re: My 64 C-10 fleetside shortbed build
i agree with mcmurphy, i think it was aggie91, that used braided lines! another option put the inner fender on and run the lines against the inner fender to the frame! i going to look into the braided lines on my truck since thats what i'll be using for the hydro boost hoses, radiator hoses

Re: My 64 C-10 fleetside shortbed build
Thats why I like to test fit everything thats modified. On the new lines I moved them back or toward the driver side about 2 1/2 inches. Im not worried about the dip stick as long as I can get it in and out and its not touching the brake lines. I was more worried about the lines being next to the manifold and getting hot. The lines are pretty much kinda in the factory place now, well as much as they can be I guess.

Re: My 64 C-10 fleetside shortbed build
glad to see you back working on it! have you tried 0000 steel wool (or similar stuff) on the shifter? it might take a good bit of the rusty spots off, but you may want new anyway

Re: My 64 C-10 fleetside shortbed build
I finally got some time to work on the truck in the past few weeks. I picked up a new sony radio for my truck. The dash was already hacked up around the radio area so im going to install a modern radio. I got the radio sleve fitted into the dash so now I can finish the bodywork on the dash and get it ready for paint.
