Thanks 67cheby! Your truck is amazing! I've read through your build probably half a dozen times. I hope to build mine to the level you've achieved.

Re: The Old Duffer

I found a SWB roller on the cheap. So now the plan is to get on the list for a porterbuilt front & rear drop member, blow this new roller apart fit everything together make necessary cuts & welds & blow it apart again, send the frame rails to sand blast & then the whole shebang to powder coat & reassemble. I wanna build the short roller & get the short bed ready then transfer everything form the old LWB frame over. I know I could chop the frame but this allows me to continue driving my truck in the meantime.

Re: The Old Duffer

Man, that's gonna look killer either way. Now that you've got a short bed, you can probably have your crew fab up a killer slammed trailer with the other bed.

Re: The Old Duffer

I guess I am the only one that loves your truck as is. I have the tv show on my dvr and have watched it over and over. Knowing the history of it, I think it would kill the soul of that truck to modify it like that. ( I'm sentimental )

my suggestion would be to start another project for the short bed but its your truck.

Re: The Old Duffer

Currently My long to short bed conversion is on hold while I make up my mind about that. In the interim I'm working on the interior & that includes gauges. Been working with John McCleod from Classic instruments on a new gauge cluster. I wanted something different but it also needed to compliment the basically stock looking interior. This is what we came up with. Notice the boost gauge & the Air/fuel gauge. A little foreshadowing. Classic Instruments does some amazing work.

Re: The Old Duffer

Build turned out awesome. I stole your cooler and drain idea for mine. I also linex ed the inner bed and then linex ed the boards individually, reassembling them with the stainless strips. Its been bullet proof and looks great.

Re: The Old Duffer

Well plans have evolved again....I'm flakey I know, but a chance run in with the American Street Car Series at an Autocross event here in Nashville spun my head around. I took some rides around the course with JB Granger from the show "Are You Faster Than A Redneck" and decided I needed to adjust my build. Here's where we currently sit. My SWB roller was blown apart & a Ridetech level 2 coil over suspension was procured. waiting on a Porterbuilt frame stiffener. Here's how she sits right now.

Re: The Old Duffer

I'm in the process of ordering the same kit for my 65, how do you like the kit? Have any more pics with wheels installed to show ride height? Thanks and love the build plan!

The parts are high quality & fit very well. Having ridden in a truck equipped with the same setup not long back I can tell you it handles incredibly well. No wheels yet. I'm narrowing my 9" inch so I'll need to assemble the rest so I can measure backspace properly.

Re: The Old Duffer

I was just thinking of pestering you again the other day to see what was going on. I like the new plan! That Ridetech setup looks great, and nothing like a real world test drive to help you see its capabilities.
