Jeffs70's Custom C-10 Build
Ok here it Goes everyone, I have finely thought to start a Build thread on my project. This is actually the first time I have ever done any customizing Let alone restore anything before, so I am learning how to do it as I go. Also I am going to show pictures of as much as Possible to catch up to where I am at now.
I Purchased my truck back in 2007 and drove it many years the way it was in this first picture This is how I drove it for a few years. The guy I purchased it off of had put a 1977 Stepper on it, also I had to raise the front suspension with stock springs due to the fact he had a flip kit on the rear and cut the front springs so much the truck was bottomed out. This Picture is updated of how I changed beds due to the fact the 1977 Stepper was a rattle trap and as my brother talked me into getting a 1988 stepper and putting on it, because he Liked that style. Well I never was into that style after I did it. You will also notice I shaved the door handles and all the marker lights. Customized the 1988 Stepper with shaved rear Steps and Roll pan, as well as the Tail gate. Original front view of my 70 with just some paint on the bent up grill and bumper. Here is the rats nest lol, 383 Stroker Interior shot of my dash, I made these plates out of aluminum thinking they would look cool. but I did not really get into them as much as I thought so those are being changed as well as the console. I changed the face of my truck to a 67-68 style with a Roll pan to fit with the style I Had when the 88 stepper was on it. This all shows how universal of customizing you can do with these trucks IMO. I have went with just doing things at times to see what I may like and dislike. and Now I found my rout to not liking the newer bed look. Ok I think that maybe enough of the in the past pictures, I am now going to start with a Frame off, If anyone is interested in more pictures of something please do ask and I will be glad to work on those for you. I love to take pictures as much as you all love to see them.

Re: Jeffs70's Custom C-10 Build
Looks like a great project. You have a good imagination and it looks like it will go far with your combination of creativity and skill. By the way things are going, I think it'll be an awesome ride.
Any ideas on the color choice? |

Re: Jeffs70's Custom C-10 Build
Thank you DT1, I am working it as best as I can at the moment. Glad to have the Equipment in my shop to do the work. that is the biggest helper of all having everything needed. Yeah My imagination never stops lol. for a color, I have thought something like silver or a tan with silver flakes, not to sure as of yet though. as that said, after all this customizing I will be pulling all this apart just for paint lol. what another thing to look forward to LMAO.

Re: Jeffs70's Custom C-10 Build
Here is a Side view of it put back together with the New Fleet Side bed.
LOL here is a picture of somethings that happened while my cab was on the trailer during the winter of last year. It was getting some weather and suddenly I walked by my truck to go work on the frame in the shop and noticed a circle on the quarter panel of the cab. I went and barely tapped on it with my finger and pops out a circle of bondo. The P.O had patched a CB Antenna hole with out any sheet metal.

Re: Jeffs70's Custom C-10 Build
Here is some pictures of my frame off restore and Paint of the frame after alot of hard work of sandblasting, wire wheel, wire brushing, and simple green and a solvent brush did the trick.
This Frame was also off a donor truck I purchased along with the fleet side bed and some other items I wanted to use. I wanted to go with coil spring rear this time around due to I know it always has been a much smoother ride IMO. New 17" Wheels and Disc Brakes installed on the frame. Sorry guys wish I would have taken more pictures at this time. I will do that as soon as possible. (Camera Died then) Cab and Motor on the Frame. also a view of my shaved firewall. Battery box routed to the rear under the bed Under hood view of shaved Firewall Front look back together

Re: Jeffs70's Custom C-10 Build
I know how you all Love pictures so I went out and took a few more of my last few days progress.
here is a side view of the body work finished for the most part on the passenger side. Here is some progress on shaving the drip rails now here is the big deal I am working on as of now. Shaving and customizing my Dash. If you look at what I have done it may look familiar a bit. It is infact the skin of my glovebox flipped around backwards to a custom design. I wanted to have something different then everyone else, But with a some what similar to factory style. I infact will be doing the same similar to the driver side where my gauges will sit. A mock up of my center console.

Re: Jeffs70's Custom C-10 Build
ok I will have some pictures to post tomorrow, I have been working on my center console for the last 4 days and ran into a few minor problems that got me going longer then I expected on it. I am sure you all will be pleased with my progress either way when I show you what I have accomplished with this. First time Fiberglassing a console so I learned some new things lol

Re: Jeffs70's Custom C-10 Build
ok here is some updated pictures of my console as of now I have it fully fiberglassed and strong. Next step for it will be to smooth it out and a simple layer of fiberglass bondo to get a great shape. and create some fiberglass front panels to complete the covering of the hump

Re: Jeffs70's Custom C-10 Build
That does look good. Are your plans to cover or paint it to match the rest of the truck?

Re: Jeffs70's Custom C-10 Build
Flowmaster score...nice! Guess we'll see that fiberglass job soon. Everyone is snowed in and needs something to ponder. We'll be getting some snow tomorrow and Friday, around 1-3 inches which is alot for here.

Re: Jeffs70's Custom C-10 Build
Thank you OARNGESI, I keep changing my mind on what I may do with my dash but I believe I will be continuing it just the way I am and put a TV/DVD Player in the glove box spot.

Re: Jeffs70's Custom C-10 Build
here are some updated pictures of my console I have been working on. This is my first fiberglass project. This is just my first layer of mesh and resin. Next will be the sides and then some removable panels I have shaped for the front, Then a few more layers of Mesh will be added and then that will be the finishing touches. I will have more Pictures as I go on this Console. I didnt expect me to use so much resin on this as I already have. so the next step is to go get me more (Getting a bulk 5Gallon Bucket this time)
