Re: 99+ post your ride

Well, that little gem belongs to my Old Man, his '62 Nova convertible. He bought it about 2 years ago and it was so bad to drive with the old manual drum/drum brakes and broken down steering that he drove it maybe twice. It really was scary to drive. I convinced him to bring it to my house and let me give it a suspension/brake/wheel makeover. I found a 5-lug rear and disc brake spindles from a '65 sedan and had them blasted, painted, etc.... He bought CPP's mini subframe, power disc brake conversion, fuel tank, new brake lines, new steering stuff, and the Coy's wheels/tires. I basically gutted the underside of the car and started fresh. Rides like it should now.

The bad part is it took me like 7 months and we completely missed the cruising season. I brought it to my house in freezing weather and it went back to him in the same weather. He was so happy with me though that for Christmas he bought me a whole new interior for my '71 Cheyenne.

They're not dogs anymore. The first gen 5.3L (99+) put out 285HP and 325 FT LBS of torque. The "new" 4.8L puts out 295HP and 305 FT LBS

NICE NOVA! Your pops has good taste.

This truck sits nice, is there a lift kit on it, or did you just crank it level?

Mine's got the 3.23's too, it just seems slow but I really need to get it tuned and throw a cam in there. When it around 4000 RPM's it pulls nicely though. I just don't like the lags on shifting, and slow response from the torque management.

Thanks! It was cranked with FORD keys and 2" blocks in the rear. Front was a little stiff but bearable. I never should have sold her If I still had her, she would be sitting on a 6" Superlift FIT right now.

What would have been great is to swap the old 250 into the TB... that would have been a shocker once you pressed on the pedal.

Yeah i think the 0-140 times would be off just a little! I think you should come down and pick up the 250....a/c, power steering, HEI...you need all the creature comforts when you get old!

Here's my favorite truck, one that I sold last year. I really miss it. It had factory leather (strange for a reg. cab). Wait4me tune, edelbrock tri-tech headers, K&N 77 series intake, dual IMCO exhaust, Boyd Coddinton 18x9's w/ Hankook MT tires, Sony head unit with DB drive amp and 10" sub.
That red shorty is nice! I like how it sits. I have a 2" lift kit thats on back order for my '04 extended cab. The kit, if it ever comes in, consists of torsion bar keys for the front and 2" add-a-leafs for the rear. I'm going to run 285/75r16 BFG AT's on some 16x8 Alcoa look-a-likes. What size tires is in the pic? Diameter wise? Thanks. jc

love the stance on the new body! I have 24s on mine so I just dropped the rear 2" with shackles. I too have the 4.8 dog, but I like it just the same. I removed the factory badges and side moldings and I love the look I got. I also took off all of the stuff on the tailgate too. You have and had lots off cool rides, Im jealous!!
