Re: 79 K20 Custom Deluxe - Goldy LS1
Jeep stuff is OK if you get bent! Don’t part out the K10 just yet... you might get tired of that little V6.
And welcome back.

Re: 79 K20 Custom Deluxe - Goldy LS1
You were that guy, the one who would wheel a full size right along with all those Jeep guys. Now you are just one of the Jeep guys. Being a Jeep guy myself I can certainly understand that. I am going to miss wheeling videos with that K10 though.

How about an update on Goldy, disc brake swap time!

Re: 79 K20 Custom Deluxe - Goldy LS1
I've been getting after it lately, did a live Q&A Friday, it answered a few questions about the disc brake swap, ls stuff, and general truck stuff.
Felt like I needed some motivation, so I got the front axle swapped, bolted up the H2's, and 37's. Got me motivated to box the front spring hangers, and sway bar cross member. |

Re: 79 K20 Custom Deluxe - Goldy LS1
More work on this sucker! Had to fab up some mounts for the battery tray and the air box mount plate, that came off the 2005 Silverado. It's always amazing how many little projects are within the larger project.

The speed holes in the battery bracket may have been a little overkill since you will never see them, but as long as it makes you happy.

Re: 79 K20 Custom Deluxe - Goldy LS1
It's time to do the fuel system, and as always a video of how I do it. I decided to do it different on this build, as far as the sender and tank. 87 Baffled K5 Blazer tank, 87 EFI sender with an EP381 fuel pump. Russell -6 AN fuel lines and fittings. Links to all parts used in the video description.

Re: 79 K20 Custom Deluxe - Goldy LS1
Looking good! Awesome videos!
![]() You mentioned possibly capping off the vent line that goes to the charcoal canister. For what it’s worth, I did that and had an issue with the truck dying occasionally. It would start right back up. I think it was some kind of vapor lock issue. After I hooked up the vent line it stopped happening. I’m running the stock TBI. Just a word of warning on that. I’m still not 100% sure if that’s what the problem was. |

Re: 79 K20 Custom Deluxe - Goldy LS1
Why would you willingly put the fuel filler on the wrong side? A couple of my vehicles have it over there and it is a pain. The majority of vehicles on the road have them on the drivers' side. The auto makers really should get together and standardize that.

For me it didn't matter what side it was on, because I'll have to modify the bed / fill anyways. Mostly it was how it clocked the fuel pump module line output. |

Re: 79 K20 Custom Deluxe - Goldy LS1
Maybe it is just a small town problem for me. I live in a town with two gas stations and there is often a line. It really screws things up when your filler is on the "wrong" side.

Copy that! It's never really been an issue so I didn't think much about it.

Re: 79 K20 Custom Deluxe - Goldy LS1
Brake line time on Goldy! I'm really digging this brake line kit from S.U.R.&.R it made it easy to do the brake lines, and had all the fittings necessary. I went a bit further by going with an adapter at the front port of the master which reduced the 1/4" 9/16 -18 to 3/16" 3/8 -24. It probably would have sealed without the reducer but I got one anyways. I'm going to run the same one at the back of the proportion valve.

Is the brake line that Ni Cop stuff? I have heard that it is really nice to work with.

Nice job on the brake lines! That flexible line looks like the way to go if I ever have to do something like this.

You made it look easy to work with. I like the new Live chat format and my only comment is that you get too far from your microphone at times. keep up the good work.

Re: 79 K20 Custom Deluxe - Goldy LS1
Well, I suppose it's time for an update! I took a little break from the truck, and then got back on it hard, because the weather was nice, and I didn't want to wait till it was 110 outside. The goal was to get it running and driving and then worry about cosmetic stuff. So I pushed hard on it, finished the brake / fuel lines, interior, engine wiring etc. Drove around for a bit and then installed vintage air. She was a bit sluggish with TH400 and stock converter so I decided to throw a Hughes 2500 in there and wow, then I got it tuned and she is woke for sure. Here are a few videos of the progress.
