Re: Blood Sweat and Tears.. 67 Build Thread
Not a whole lots been done, I did get most of the undercoating striped down to metal, but Ive just been a bit to busy. Job change will have me OTR for a couple weeks at a time now as well, so its gonna slow down even more. Ill be collecting parts for a while and when I get some time off Ill get what I can done before going back out again.

Re: Blood Sweat and Tears.. 67 Build Thread
Ive got the cab corners replaced along with patches around the windshield channel and outer floor patches as well as filling in the fuel fill hole... Ive been priming and block sanding on the cab a bit trying to get it ready and put aside so I can move on to other things...

Re: Blood Sweat and Tears.. 67 Build Thread
Still no idea on what color or colors Im going with... Im leaning towards Hugger Orange with matte black or white stripes on the sides similar to the Yenco stripes...
Thoughts?

Re: Blood Sweat and Tears.. 67 Build Thread
Picked up this steel visor I think will be pretty cool since I don't think I've ever seen one of these trucks with one like it...

Visor looks great! Can't wait to see it finished on your truck.

Re: Blood Sweat and Tears.. 67 Build Thread
Sure wish I had more time to get things done, but I guess it is what it is. I got a little bit done though. Installed the new HP oil pump and double roller timing set and fitted the visor. I mounted it at a lower angle than it was made for so I will be patching in some of the gap around the drip rail next weekend, giving the cab one more go round and move on to the doors, cowl, inside and getting the under cab coated. Hope to get it mounted back on the cab to start fitting the front clip next week or two. Every little bit is something I guess....

Every little bit is something. I right!! My Dad told me once: Just work at one piece till its done, then do another before you know it you have no more pieces and your truck is done. Lookin good.

Re: Blood Sweat and Tears.. 67 Build Thread
Some of you may have already seen this truck, But i wanted to share my new inspiration. Im actually going to do something like this hood and possibly the valance too. I located the CF headlight surrounds and added them to the list as well. I absolutely love this truck....

Re: Blood Sweat and Tears.. 67 Build Thread
We put the cab back on its back today so I can finish up underneath and get it coated. Damaged my new corners flipping it over..... not a happy camper right now, but what am I gonna do right?
Ill be reworking the damage once we sit it back on the frame I guess... That's just a product of not having the right tools, space and hands to do a full frame off...

Re: Blood Sweat and Tears.. 67 Build Thread
it's very hard not to cause damage when your moving the cab around. We used 5 gallon cans with boards to hold the cab up. Then when we needed to flip it up to work on the bottom, it could slide on the boards as it rolled up.

Re: Blood Sweat and Tears.. 67 Build Thread
Yeah.. I really needed another hand to do it... but you know how that can be. Totally my fault for not waiting. I just hope its only the one corner and nothing is damaged on the back. Wont know until I flip it back over now.

Re: Blood Sweat and Tears.. 67 Build Thread
Finally got the under cab coated with the Master Coat. Thats some nasty stuff. Even with all doors open and a full mask it made my lungs angry. Its not gonna be a SEMA truck, but I think its good enough for me and the local shows. Im not even gonna worry about the run at the top of the Trans Tunnel.. Might be cutting that out later anyway for a high hump... My goal was to just get it coated and back on the frame.

Sorry to hear about your cab corners...ugh.
The coating looks good. Was that spray or brush on? Haven't heard about Mastercoat and will have to check them out. |

Quote:
The primer is really thick in the can for filling in pits, but thinned down it sprayed nice. If scratched its not supposed to rust farther that 1/8 inch past the scratch and the top coat is chemical resistant. They use it on subway cars and bridges... Here's the link to their site.. http://www.masterseriescoatings.com/...oducts/primer/

Re: Blood Sweat and Tears.. 67 Build Thread
Sounds like some heavy duty stuff. My thought is if it has a strong smell it's probably good stuff.

Sorta kinda almost looks like something for now... Couldnt resist sticking the doors and a fender on it so I have something to stare at for a bit...

Re: Blood Sweat and Tears.. 67 Build Thread
Welp... The motor I have in my pics.. I only had the heads sat in place and today went out to actually finish bolting everything on. Discovered that about half the head bolt holes are stripped out of the block.... This is the same motor that came in the truck that ran really good and strong. I removed the heads to clean it up and check out the bottom end. I was just going to put it back together and run it while I built something else. I guess that just changed....
