Re: My other passion...65' Impala SS

haha, I know. Here you go hotrodhomi... just rolled it out of the garage after finishing the rear spring install no more than 10 minutes ago... I think the rear springs will settle and give a little more drop after driving on it for a while... Enjoy!

Very nice Impala. The lines of the car really work well with the lowering and wheels.

Yep, I sure did. Once I get some miles under the belt, I may re-address the stance and remove a coil or so, front and rear.... not sure yet.

Re: My other passion...65' Impala SS

Such an epic awsome rig!!! 65-67 full size chev cars are the best. Stick with the 327 theres not to many of those on the road still. I read somewhere that the 65 is one of the best selling cars of all time.

Re: My other passion...65' Impala SS

Thanks you guys! I have done a bunch to the car recently, and will be putting in a quick ratio 12.7-1 steering gearbox this weekend, that gives good road feel. I am looking forward to that upgrade!

Re: My other passion...65' Impala SS

New steering gearbox is in, and let me tell you, this might be the single best upgrade I have done to this car! It handles the road so much better now and the road feel is awesome! I also decided to take a coil out of the rear springs, and I am really happy with the new stance. This car handles great now (I also replaced all bushings in the front to poly). I am not sure what I will do once I finish these next couple things!
What do you think?

Re: My other passion...65' Impala SS

It looks great! I thought of you this weekend when i saw a couple of these at Good Guys. But my favorite one by far was this primered black 66 that had a big cam BBC, and a super hot milf driving it, with her super hot daughter riding shot gun.

What kind of coil spring compressor did you use Nicke?Did you have any trouble getting the springs back in?

Re: My other passion...65' Impala SS

Thanks guys... I'm really happy with how it turned out! It feels good to be driving it around after doing everything (myself ;-) )
Didn't use a coil spring compressor. Once the rear end is up, you can just unbolt the lower shock mounts and slowly lower it down. Once the bottom of the springs are unbolted from the perch, they just pop out.

Re: My other passion...65' Impala SS

What a sweet ride. I have always thought that the 65-66 Impalas are one of the most stylish, attractive cars Chevy ever built. They ride great, the interiors are beautiful, and I love that fastback style. When I was a kid, our neighbors had a '66, and whenever I looked out my bedroom window, I was staring at that car. Great looking cars. I want one BAD!
