Replacing wood floor with sheet metal (more pics)
After cutting out the old wood, had to blast and frame to make up for the gap between 3/4 plywood and 12 awg steel. He's going to weld up all the seams and coat the entire back section with Lizard Skin. Should quiet up the inside and add some good stability to the rig when done.

Re: What did you do to your Suburban Today?
Discovered another flat on my '69. Just replaced the left rear tire which kept going flat, and now this one goes flat...

Re: What did you do to your Suburban Today?
Finished rebuilding the SM465 and started working on the NP205.
I find it VERY difficult to get things done during babys nap time! Only an hour or so a day with no loud noises makes it slow going. |

I installed the Dakota Digital Speedometer converter box so I can use my stock speedometer with the 4l60e. Works like a champ & easy to set up. I also had the muffler shop install "J" pipes on my tail pipes to get rid of the nasty drone and hollow sound of the Flowmaster knock off mufflers I had them put on it. They work like a champ too!!! Put about 150 miles on it today and I could actually hear the music playing..... I'm a happy camper! LockDoc

Re: What did you do to your Suburban Today?
Had to research the "J-Tube." AKA Helmholtz tubes. Very interesting idea. Might do the same.
How did the exhaust shop decide what length to use?

It is a set length depending on your driving habits and RPM of the drone. Mine needed to be 28.25 inches long overall. There are charts in some of the writeups. I will see if I can find one.... If I do I will edit this post and add it. Edit: Here is the chart. All I did was drive the speed I most often drive, note the RPM at that speed and check the pipe length at that RPM on the chart. I don't drive interstates much so I just set it for the RPM at 60mph and it seems to work pretty good for all speeds. If a person is concerned about multiple speeds the second picture shows an adjustable pipe. LockDoc

Re: What did you do to your Suburban Today?
Not nearly exciting as a new paint job, or a new metal floor, but just a little addition to the back end to keep some tools and cleaning stuff in order. A set of vintage luggage for The Burb.

Re: What did you do to your Suburban Today?
I found it on the road in the middle of an intersection. It's off a Toyota RAV 4. I cut off the bottom so it just sits on the carpet. I picked up the "CHEVY' emblem at a Chevrolet dealer while on vacation in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. They have a Chevy model car there that is actually called a "Chevy"'

Re: What did you do to your Suburban Today?
Drained all the old watery ethanol gas out of my '69 so I can put ethanol free gas in and put it on the road as my main towing vehicle. C30 killed an injection pump and it's getting a gasoline/automatic conversion, and my '69 burb is the only one I have that has a trailer hitch. Hooning/doing burnouts with my gray '72 since it has a ton of power and it's the 4th of July:

I finally found some door panels and have them in. Instead of only door handles, looks much better!
