Re: PB bagged 69 stepside-because Leon asked...

He didn't know Jim. He said he bought it in the for sale section on this board some time ago. He ran it 90 minutes with no issues before it was shipped but something is out of whack now. If there was an adjustment in the front/rear direction I could solve it easily I believe.

I have a thread and pic over in the 67-72 section as well so we don't clutter your thread Jim.

Re: PB bagged 69 stepside-because Leon asked...

Are you looking for a stock throttle cable for a 6-cylinder?
I have this set-up that I bought on the board.
I sold the truck it was to go on.

I would think you would need the 71-72 gas pedal assembly also.

Re: PB bagged 69 stepside-because Leon asked...

Yep. I think that's what I need instead of the handmade job on my firewall. I have the pedal assembly, with the LFD bracket in there now.
This is what I just posted--besides the WTB ad:

Are any of you running a straight six with a throttle cable (not a rod) in your 71/72?
I've got a '69. We swapped the rod for a 2wd V8 cable with a handmade bracket mounted on the firewall, and the 71/71 pedal with the LFD bracket. The loop it has is minor, but the cable, even lubed, is VERY hard to push/pull--due to the loop, I'm sure. I was going to switch back to the rod, but I got a universal Lokar cable which I can cut much shorter than the stock one to remove the unnecessary tight loop. It will be very short since the bracket we made is on the firewall.
I'd like to know, or see, what the throttle bracket setup is which the 71/72 trucks used. Where it mounted--on the carb? Motor? Maybe I could get my hands on the factory bracket, or similar and get rid of the cobbled together pos that my buddy made.
Thanks

Re: PB bagged 69 stepside-because Leon asked...

The part circled in red, is the key to making what I have work.
The manifold has to have these two bosses cast into it,... to accept the bolt on bracket.

Re: PB bagged 69 stepside-because Leon asked...

I'll have to check mine out. I don't remember them being there, which is why we made something else...couldn't figure out where to attach anything on the carb or motor. Mine's a '69, I wonder if they only made them that way when they switched to the cable in 71. I'll look and let you know. Thank you.

This part of the manifold (yellow "X") is also critical for mounting the linkage.

Keith,
It looks like I'm good on mounting the stock brackets.

Oops! Forgot the pics! You can see the bracket that was made in an attempt to make due, and the crazy loop that makes for an extremely non-smooth throttle.

I have $50 in my bracket and cable.
I can ship in a flat rate box for $61 if you are interested.

Looks sweet! Do you have any pics inside the bed to show the cnotch and how you cut the wheel wells to fit the rims?

Re: PB bagged 69 stepside-because Leon asked...

Yes. It's a must with the stepside if you want to be that low. Narrowed 8 1/2".
The step notch, and all other suspension components are made by Porterbuilt, if you are not familiar with them. I highly recommend checking them out. The bedsides are cut right up to the top inside of the fenders--just above that center bolt.

The first few pics actually show you the inside, although it was cut up the additional inch or so that was still there to get more clearance and lower.

It was 2 and change. I wrote here somewhere. 1st or 2nd page.
Body lift bed? To get it off? It was lifted on a lift at a shop. Much easier, but 2 guys can lift a bed. I did it with the fleet I had before this.

what i meant is dont you have to raise the bed floor 4 or 5 inches to clear the cnotch and the wheels if your laying frame?
