You would probably be fine as long as you don't detinate it! I'd start with the msd!

Bigjim
I'd like to see more pics of how your bed is attached and interested in what you run for a cover if any!

Re: Ran 11.44 @117.69mph
Yes all questions are welcome here, it's the new drag truck discussion thread. 409, a little trip to Canada you could pick up my old motor, it ran 12's. For sure drop in that MSD stuff, must need with the NOS.

Re: Ran 11.44 @117.69mph
Thanks for the info Jim! 409, I know that if you're careful with your tuneup, a stock shortblock will take 125-150 hp hit of spray. Like I said, though, you really need to look at all of your plugs and make sure that it's not detonating. Go 1 step colder on your plugs and follow the nitrous company's advice on recommended fuel pressure. Also, take out 4* timing for every 100 hp added. This will get you close. BTW, the MSD will definitely make life easier when adding the spray.

Re: Ran 11.44 @117.69mph
Just got off the phone with Marty Chance of Neil Chance racing convertors I will be sending off my 9 convertor in the next day or two to get it checked out and tightened up!
Hope that will help my times on the spray! It may hurt off the bottle but you got to give a little to get a little!

Re: Ran 11.44 @117.69mph
Yup thats my complete bed. It mounts with 2 studs to the cab..2 mounts in the back and 2 out riggers by the wheel well. I have an aluminum bed cover made from 3 pieces of .030 aluminum. Mounted to 1x1 square aluminum tube. With the back panel piano hinged.
The truck is at the painters right now...when I go over I will take some shots of the bed mounting and cover..b4 and after install. 409...a 75 shot will sure wake that puppy up...yeeehaw

Re: Ran 11.44 @117.69mph
dont know how many people do this or maybe its been talked about earlier.. but there was a truck that had a custom rear bumber made from rectangular tube and the guy put a little hole in the top to fill it with a 100 pounds of lead said it helped with traction greatly..

Re: Ran 11.44 @117.69mph
If these trucks are setup right they hook pretty well with out adding weight! The rule of thumb is every 100 pounds is a tenth of a second! I need to eat less cheese burgers!

I think I like them both DAMFAST and THISIDEUP.
409(Doug) The headers and new exhaust will be your answer. lol Just kidding. I think the 150 shot on yours and it would be the ultimate sleeper. It looked like you had some good lights a few weeks ago when I was out there. |

Re: Ran 11.44 @117.69mph
What are you guy's running for race seats? djracer I see you have Kirkey seats in yours, what size are they and how do they fit? I'm a larger guy, 6' 1" around 250lbs. farm boy build I ordered in a set of cheap seats but they are fairly small in the seat part, not too bad on the back little tight in the ribs. Likely ok for a 1/4 mile and a bit of cruising, but still thinking of the Kirkey seats. The place I get stuff from has 17" in stock, had one 18" but gone now, need to decide by tomorrow night if the ones I got are going back or not. Leaving Fri evening to get my roll bar in, I guess what I need to know is how do the Kirkey seats fit. Looked at the measurements on thier web site, but also thought the ones I got would be fine from the measurements. Don't really want the RCI type plastic ones, They ones I got are a sports car type, not too bad for weight, but for sure heavier than full race seats.

Re: Ran 11.44 @117.69mph
Thank's guy's Think what I'm going to do is take the ones I got with me, run over to my supplier after I get to the city and drop off my truck and trailer at the fabricators. Try the Kirkey and the RCI seats, and if I don't use the ones I have bring them home and take them back to where I got them in town.
I'm sure I can't complicate it any more than I have all ready, had my fill of this seat ordeal.

Re: Ran 11.44 @117.69mph
And the winner is Kirkey Pro drag seats, truck is there, measurements taken will be done by the end of next week. If I remember I'll get some pics of the pro street 71 Chev short box he's doing for a guy, full cert cage, back half 4-link, front suspension all done up, 3" chop. Motor's going to be set back, fabbed fire wall and floor, all discs fab 9" rear end, he said the back was all done once before and the guy changed his mind and it had to be again. LOL wish I had that budget. It's like Djracers truck taken one more level.
Anybody get some racing in?

Re: Ran 11.44 @117.69mph
I went racing tonite , if you can call it that . 104 air temp , 137 track temp according to the hand held temp gage , i was spinning off the line , that hasn't been a problem before , had the tire pressure down to 9lbs , plus the truck wouldn't cool down below 180 deg. The dragster dudes said the air was registering at 6400 ft. Anyway very small turnout , no one else in my bracket , that 68 is so predictable , ran a 66 on a 65 dial in , last week it was running 49 on a 49 dial in . I don't think i'd bother going to the track when it's that hot , i was just curious how it would react .
Later ........................................... 409
