Re: Let's post 60-66 SUBURBAN Only Pictures
I'm wanting me a 4x4 burb, prefer 64-66. I've had several 62-66 trucks but I'm thinking Burb now.

Re: Let's post 60-66 SUBURBAN Only Pictures
I just look at these bad boys and my heart just screams out......GET A BURB...
I have a '59 Apache project that I love....on the back burner...but I remember...when I was just a pup...13 or 14 years old, growing up on a homestead in a remote hanging valley in the interior of Alaska..in 1972. My dad traded in our '66 Chev Suburban...bone stock, 292 with an automatic, all the seats and in great shape ()on a '63 Coupe De Ville so my Mother would have a nice car to drive. Pretty quick, I guess Dad realized he missed the Carry-All and he came home one day driving a '58 GMC Suburban...(not sure on which is a Burb & which is a Carry-All)...in decent shape for the year...(in fabulous shape for today). It was dark..(Brick) red with one of the barn doors being yellow....and maybe a fender. Well, that became Dads daily driver and our hunting & fishing rig from then on. It only had one rear seat...and we took it out and put it in the shed so that when we were on a huntin trip, we could throw a pad in the back and camp out of it. That rig hauled thousands of pounds of Caribou and Moose meat (and Salmon and Halibut) home to the freezer over the next years. I would give anything for a chance to own that truck. Last we saw of it was, after a mechanical failure of some sort....Dad left it in White Horse or Dawson Creek on his last trip Outside...bought a cheep runner and drove the rest of the way to Oregon. I wish I had a chance.

brought this one home a few weeks ago. cleaned about 600 lbs of junk out of it. found the latches for the sliding rear windows while doing it. still has the original front seat.

Re: Let's post 60-66 SUBURBAN Only Pictures
Rocktonka- thats a good looking burb, looks solid too. must be nice to live where the iron mites dont attack your truck. your trim looks like stainless ,I think the trim on mine is aluminum. maybe different years? gmc verses chevy?
found the pointed piece for $16 and fender moulding for $21 in the truck shop catalog. |

Re: Let's post 60-66 SUBURBAN Only Pictures
They can be, but the pointed end is also used on the trucks and is available (I believe) from the aftermarket. Looks like this on the burb (first pic), front of GMC (second pic)...

Re: Let's post 60-66 SUBURBAN Only Pictures
Here's what I bought and have coming my way. It's in WA and I'm in WVa.
I have plenty of plans for it, but first will be getting it up to speed mechanically. I know it needs brake work. It's been almost 20 years since I worked on standard brakes (not disc). Engine and tranny are supposed to be good. I'm sure it'll need new hoses and iginition wiring, probably points and condenser. From the above posts I see it has the custom trim including the pointed piece on the door.

Re: Let's post 60-66 SUBURBAN Only Pictures
Thanks 63c-10. I think it looks crappy, I hate the 2 tone paint job. I didn't realize that it was a primer, what I thought is/was brown splotches on it until Monday. Old school primer I'm told.
The original paint is lacquer and has very small cracks every where. Patina I'm told and I've read here how hot the patina thing is. Not for me. Main body is going to be Grabber Blue. Roof, either white(pretty common) or silver, maybe a lite yellow. I had a brite yellow picked out but female friend said no. I trust her color judgement, mine sucks.
