I would like to see this also, something a seat can directly bolt to and be at the right height, or electric, with the 6-way adjustmnets

Re: What parts aren't out there?
What a great question
I'd love to have these items. pre-made brakest that would line up with the re-enforced holes our truck, that would maybe adapt to some of the more popular seat swaps. I'd love to have some head lights with turn signals built in, like chevyofthe fortiies has but cheaper. I'd like to have a rear roll pan with exhaust cuts pre-made with heat shields installed. Bumble bee or some kind of decent stripe kit. Circle for filling up the gas tank hole when u relocate your gas tank. Some nice prefabbed and amp speaker or storage place boxes to put where the gas tank went when u move it. And could we please have a bolt on 68 sloped style hood with cowl induction and some hood scoops and a hood mounted tach like the GTO Judge had and, and, and,.......... I only thought about this a couple once or twice |

Re: What parts aren't out there?
Original radio knobs, 69-70 front turn signal housings, front visor patch without the molded rearview mirror bracket, chrome trim for 72 door panels, SWB bed floors, LWB bedsides, OEM style A/C boxes (for replacing busted underhood parts) Cruise control parts.

Re: What parts aren't out there?
Thought of another item.
Inner Rocker that include about two or three inches of the outer floor. I wouldn't think these would be two hard to produce and I've seen a lot of floors that where only rusted out in the inner rocker and along the edge of the inner rocker. At this time you either have to buy front and rear floor pans (Which don't fit for crap where the two meet) or purchase an inner rocker and fab and weld the small area of the floor pan that need to be replaced. I think there could be a decent demand for this repair panel and it's not offered to the best of my knowledge.

Re: What parts aren't out there?
I second the SWB Fleetside metal bed floor.
How about some quality triangular fold out quarter windows or whatever they're called?

Re: What parts aren't out there?
- Blazer Carpet Hold Down Strips (front and rear)
- *Forged* tow hooks (someone said cast up above, I wouldn't trust cast to tow anything). - That passenger inner fender patch panel suggested would have been nice instead of buying the entire fender. New Idea: How about a Blazer bedside upper patch panel that runs the entire length of the bedside, and goes maybe a few inches down? The top has been on mine for so long that it has rusted on the rail where the top meets up with it in more than a few spots.

Re: What parts aren't out there?
LWB bedsides and metal floor. The metal floor would be easy to make, plus you can get the SWB floor from the same piece.
Also like to see the seat covers that are NOT the houndstooth pattern. Dont know the name of the pattern but all 3 of the 72 custom deluxes Ive had had those seat covers...Eric

Re: What parts aren't out there?
A nice plastic cover for the in cab fuel tank. The OE cardboard is crap! Make it cover up the pass side inside around the corner & vent lines.
What do we need on the tailgates? Heavier gauge? They are pretty good now, so retooling is probably not going to happen. |

Re: What parts aren't out there?
Tri-ProAutomotive This was a great thread.
There is one common denominator to all these replies...A desire to fix up these trucks. I for one think this is great feedback on what truck owners need for their trucks and what parts are hard to impossible to get. Tri-ProAutomotive ...like I tell my management. "You make up losses in volume? I wish you well no matter what parts you make and you get a fair return on investment!

Re: What parts aren't out there?
without this kind of forum there's a lot of guesswork; so we do appreciate ALL of the input.
Now if someone has a shortbed/stepside truck that's not too bad off (without drivetrain?) PM me. There's no one making an injected plastic glovebox is there? Last edited by jb4short; 03-04-2007 at 09:47 PM. |

Re: What parts aren't out there?
Bring on the injection molded glove box (with air)!
I also like Stroker's idea: I think the 67-68 hoods built to fit 69-72 front clip would be a good one!!!!!!!!! Tri-ProAutomotive: You could put the products you're considering to a poll Maybe by the time I get my truck ready for the bodywork some of this stuff will be available.

Re: What parts aren't out there?
speaking of injection molding, what if there were some repro blazer/jimmy interior rear trim panels made out of plastic? the ones with the original scroll work that are so expensive to replace, yet they are still vinyl (susceptable to moisture?) it would actually make sense to have the front door panels made of plastic with scroll work (which they are, from the factory) but also to have some good-looking ones to match for the back out of matching plastic. for burbs, too! maybe even modernize them a little, retaining scroll and grain pattern, but molding some contours (ala newer 'burbs and tahoes) to include speaker provisions and cupholders.
maybe i'll do some of these myself...

Re: What parts aren't out there?
you know the rods that go from the handle to the latch mechanism in the doors to get out of the truck.. ya that I can't find any anywhere. I don't know the overall need for these but it seems being able to buy everything else for the doors and not being able to buy these is odd.
