Re: 60-66 Patina's or O.G. Painted Truck Pics

I'll play...my newest project has plenty of patina. 63 swb bbw

And a pic of both projects together...the stepside has only been painted 1x since factory paint....so guess the paint is OG on that also.

Re: 60-66 Patina's or O.G. Painted Truck Pics

Thought i'd post a couple of pix of my '66 SWB step side. Ex USAF, original blue paint, patina'd with battle scars from use of use.

'She' certainly opens eyes over here in the UK!

It's all original with 250 I6, 3 on the tree, only changes are new bed wood and box (that I stripped), re-painted interior with mexi blanket seat n door panels, chrome rims and airbags on all 4 corners. She could do with a rear notch and dropped spindles on the front to drop more though.... one day when im rich.....

That 60s baby blue / turquoise color has always been my favor color on a truck. But close second is that sea green from the sam time period.

I have heard of people going to great lengths to get there rear end on the ground but removing the back tires seems a little to much.

Re: 60-66 Patina's or O.G. Painted Truck Pics

And we should not confuse original paint with patina.
I have seen several original paint cars and trucks that look almost as nice as they rolled out of the factory - but patina is not that look.
OG = Pampered & well taken care of.
Patina = Well used and abused

Re: 60-66 Patina's or O.G. Painted Truck Pics

I'm with you, supercharged. Not to be a negative Nellie or put anyone's truck down but I keep coming to this thread expecting to see some nice survivors with factory paint in good condition. But mostly all I've seen here are trucks that maybe haven't ever been repainted... but should've been! Most of the them are waaay past the "patina" stage, to my mind.

But what do I know. I think the term "OG" is really goofy, too. What are we? A bunch of rappers?

Re: 60-66 Patina's or O.G. Painted Truck Pics

So when i bought the truck, the owner rattle canned the entire c20 a flat black. I spent a month last summer wet sanding the flat black off revealing a lusicous orange. I still have a few more areas to wet sand.

Re: 60-66 Patina's or O.G. Painted Truck Pics

I love the patina on my workhorse project, and I even like the surface rust on the top side of every surface. I ran across this thread (great, when I visit the thread this morning none of the relevant pictures are displaying because the account has been seeing too much activity. Maybe they will show up again later?) on using CLR on the surface rust/rust stains. I can't help but wonder how my truck would look after this treatment. If I didn't like it I couldn't go back (at least not for several years!). I may try this technique on an area on a parts junker and see what I think.
