Re: Brewing up some Pale Ale
Blah blah. More of the same, few more things accomplished. Wiring door actuators right now, I hate wiring lol, finished up suspension tonight thanks to Nobby hooking me up with an adj panhard. Still waiting on the gas filler hose and idler pulley to have her drivable again. That should be here tomorrow, errrr um. Today actually. These damn late nights.

Re: Brewing up some Pale Ale
Hope so. Having carb/fuel issues now. Problems out the blue. Running fine then died on me. Let it cool and all is good, warms up again and boom, stumbling and dies. I cleaned the filter, pulled the bowl and cleaned the needle seat n such. Seems to be running ok, but haven't had time to drive it very much since the cleaning. I didn't notice any trash in the seat when I disassembled it. Just got me scratching my head because of how well it runs for a while before it starts stumbling and dies.

Re: Brewing up some Pale Ale
What could cause vapor lock. Pulled the gas cap off with no help the other day.

No phenolic block under carb, isolates the heat of the engine Fuel line close to a heat source, ie, head or intake, or exhaust pipe Fuel filter in the wrong location Timing Just read a tip on the pick up side, put a couple clothes line clips(wooden), on the fuel line, supposed to dissipate the heat May be more, but thats off the top of my head

Re: Brewing up some Pale Ale
With the scenerio described, could a dirty needle sat have been the problem?

One thing you might try is when it happens... is to pull the fuel line off at the carb, have a rag handy because if it is vapor lock it usually squirts fuel and hot vapor pretty far. If it does then vapor lock is your issue for sure. If you have a surface temp gun it would be a good idea to see how hot the line to the carb is,as well as the fuel pump, carb and intake manifold .... I was seeing 220+ degrees because of my electric fan setup is great at keeping the engine temp in check but was seriously adding to underhood temps not to mention it was 100 degrees outside... If your fuel line temp is 180 deg or cooler, you may want to check for a air leak in between the tank and fuel pump....fuel pump sucking air gives the exact same symptoms as vapor lock.Make sure your fuel pump is making 5 psi also.... |

Re: Brewing up some Pale Ale
When I replaced my tank, I installed a new rubber line from the tank to the hard line. I'm going check that first thing. Thanks for the tips. I need to get me a temp gun.

Re: Brewing up some Pale Ale
Just a thought...when I replaced my tank, I accidently pinched the rubber vent line on top of the tank. It would run until the pump couldn't draw a vacuum any more and then die. Let it sit for a little while, get some air back into the tank, and then the pump could draw again. Your problem does sound like vapor lock, but if it wasn't doing it before you changed the tank, I would check to make sure you didn't pinch off any of the lines on the reinstall. Good luck!
